NO TIME TO DIE WEEKEND THREAD | Bond 56M, Venom 32M
Menor the Destroyer replied to Eric is Quiet's topic in Numbers and Data
More than half doesn't matter (even MCU movies often are in the 60% over 25 range) but looking it up Fallout was 74% over 25. Not that much better than Bond movies. You may be right that spy movies just won't draw younger audiences in general, as M:I at least has the exceptional action sequences that would make it a bigger draw. -

Called it. The correlation between RT verified and Cinemascore is extremely strong at this point. Speaks well of the reliability of the RT score. I'm actually surprised at how well this works -- would think self-selection would bias the RT more. -

I think you put the wrong number in sold today. Should be 36 sold today? I did a double take at first seeing that 674 thinking that Dune just exploded off the face of the planet lmao. -

Imo, though I like the Bond movies well enough, I don't see what they have that will make them a big young draw, at least in the USA where there's no special national attachment to the character. The plots are not particularly different than other spy movies, and the action is good but nothing that really stands out. Their biggest appeal is the character and the tradition but I think Bond is a more relatable character for older audiences, and the tradition doesn't appeal as much if you didn't grow up with these movies. -
2 million and 75k likes. Don't think any 30-second spot for SC reached that. "Protect" getting there is whatever since it was the first marketing for the film in months, so would be inflated on that alone. But I am impressed that "Team" managed to get there as well. It started off much lower than "Protect" did.

Yes, I am feeling the high end is more likely. -

Sure, it has a good chance. Depends on the night pace but it seems like it should happen, imo. Canada should add a good amount. -

Bond (as of a couple hours ago, I am reporting it late) was at 144149 tickets sold or $1666713. It improved the pace to 60-65% of F9. If that continues I expect a 190-195k final. However yesterday late night was really bad compared to F9 while the afternoon was the same 60%, then it could hit that same 175k. We will see where it lands. That range is 70-80% of SC Friday, so fairly wide possibilities still. My gut is still at 18m but I will refrain from a projection without seeing the MTC1 trajectory. -

Bro haven't you cursed this movie enough? -
Nah. You can say a lot of things about about the movies and shows since the OT but plenty other than the Mandalorian have a voice and vision, in fact I'd argue that the Mandalorian has less vision than PT/TCW/Rebels, but that is neither here nor there really. TLJ also had a vision, I didn't like it much but it definitely had a directorial voice. I would be careful with book adaptations as they have a committed fanbase that can make them very presale heavy.

Glad to see my Astros dominating the White Sox. Now the Giants need to do their job and wipe out the Dodgers. I am hoping for a curbstomping. -
Hmm. Something feels off about it. I do think from this brief clip that they've gotten the Emond's field characters fairly well, the short interactions feel true to the books. But the lighting looks weird and everyone seems very grim for the day before a festival. Also Moiraine isn't hiding the fact that she's an Aes Sedai which is a weird change from the books. It also feels very much like those medieval fantasy shows on Netflix, which a WoT show shouldn't imo. But I will reserve judgment until we get full context.

Bond run at MTC2 that just finished was 96974/674426. Very weak morning pace. Running slightly over half of F9's pace. Needs to do better than that. If that continues, it will finish at 175k or about 2.1 million. For reference TSS final Friday was 1.05 million and so it would only be double that, so 16 million. Though Canada will probably add a million or so and from Keyser's recent post seems like MTC1 will do a bit better. I am sticking with my projection of 18 million for now. -

MTC2 is looking like it might be that, but in the other direction, with Bond struggling to pass BW's 11 AM PT number. Bond in Canada seems to perform like the UK. -

1. Venom and Shang-Chi IM doesn't matter as they had very different sales patterns and audiences. Also, previews were 6.23 million with 1 million from Wed, so the Spectre comp doesn't make sense. 2. 90% verified audience score is nothing special and usually corresponds to an A- on Cinemascore (which is the same as Spectre). 3. I don't know what you're referring to with Spectre's daily holds, it bumped 19% on Saturday, not 52.2% drop. Yeah it has a chance to top Spectre if walkups today are very very good, but Skyfall? I have no clue where you can see that. -

91% RT verified, seems like an A- Cinemascore in the cards. -

NTTD Friday Sales: Shows: 4810 (+24) Tickets Sold: 70906/674049 (+18904) Total $ sales: 880784* (+222652) Blech. These aren't final sales and there a few hours to go for that but I don't see it going higher than like 76k by end of day. The 24-hr pace was not great. Way below F9 and SC let alone Venom. But can't make too solid a prediction from just MTC2, still my gut is telling me 18m Friday or so. Some comps: F9 was at 107k a couple hours after this. SC was at 91k a few hours after this. Venom 2 was at 121k a few hours after this. Last two comps courtesy of @keysersoze123 -

Bond MTC2 at 59044/409958, $795652. Probably heading for 70k admits/930k gross finish here. Could be only 65k/870k if the night is poor. I will update tomorrow morning with final numbers. Edit: Just did a separate post for Fri numbers instead to make things more clearly demarcated. -

Wait I thought F9 sold more than 1000 in the second half of the day? 491 seems like first half.
