With the audience reactions, the critical reception (it just lost its Certified Fresh seal) and big names like Pfeiffer, Bardem, Harris, and especially Lawrence, mother! is guaranteed to get Razzie nods up the wazoo.
Worst film, director, and actress are locks.
The GRs love the kind of narrative that this movie has elicited.
I did not hate the film.
I was enthralled, shocked, even disgusted by some of the images, but I appreciate that it made me feel something.
Like I said, maybe this will get cult status eventually, but there is no doubt that this is flopping.
There will be as many "JLAW is not a box office star anymore!!!" posts as "WEll, mother! isn't really a flop!" posts. Both fail to see the whole picture...
If there is one property I'd love to see done by the MCU, that's the Xmen.
God, how I'd love to see this X-Men lineup (plus Kitty!) brought to life by the MCU...and guess what, a huge reason is color... (LOL...laugh at me or roll your eyes. I don't care)
Yep, I'd love to see the breezy, colorful aesthetic that the MCU usually brings to CBMs (I am not talking about jokes, but actual color palette) applied to the Xmen.
I would die if I ever saw these costumes translated to the big screen the way that MCU does, which lets the costumes retain their colorful essence while still making them functional and cinematic...
I don't even understand in what way, shape, or form it "seemed that way" to you, because two of the things that @iJackSparrow has always been extremely vocal about (to some people, annoyingly so) is the rights of the X-Men and Spidey going back to Marvel/Marvel Studios.
If [any of] you are annoyed about some people hoping that mother! flops/happy about mother! flopping, but you acted gleeful and happy about The Mummy, Valerian, or the latest Trnsfrms, Pirates, or Cars underperforming...well, then you are a hypocrite.
Whether the film is seen as a masterpiece or as a "piece of crap," there is nothing gained from the floppage of a movie that you are not interested in to begin with.
Just don't watch the film; problem solved.
You have got to be kidding.
People have already mentioned how this flopping will not impact Jlaw's career in the least, and I'll say this: I LOVE Lively, and her Hollywood profile was certainly boosted by the success of The Shallows, but Jennifer Lawrence is still the Hollywood starlet most likely to get sent the hottest scripts in town and cast in the hottest properties around. She has the box office numbers and the awards luster. Livelty might get there eventually, but she still is not on the same level as Jlaw, stardom-wise.
If Deadpool had been made by Marvel Studios, you would be saying that it was "a riot" and that it was "moviemaking poetry full of lush, vividly creative narrative landscapes."
No need to pile on anyone who did not enjoy the film, but now that I watched it, I can definitely see why this thing is not going to break out with large audiences.
