  1. Re: Alien: Prometheus, Alien: Covenant Alien as a title is cinematically iconic, specific, unique, and when paired with a name associated with Greek mythology or some Christian concept, the message becomes diluted or confusing (even though there are some blunt religious concepts in the Alien series). I am not a big fan of using Alien as part of the title. I feel that the title Prometheus is a stroke of genius as it gets non-Alien scifi fans and casual moviegoers intrigued. And I love how they insert references from the earlier movies (the space jockey chair) in the teaser for the fans but don't explicitly call the movie an Alien movie. But to me, the new movie to me sounds like a movie made around a video game tie-in, i.e. highly commercial, i.e. bloated but mediocre (like how the Fast & Furious movies evolve into a pair of uninteresting, non-specific action movies after Fast 5). I seriously hope not. But hey, I am not the CEO of Fox.
  2. This however could be something original or even special (I know diff genre but some similar themes in the movie : MIDNIGHT SPECIAL (Michael Shannon, Adam Driver, Sam Shepard)
  3. She has 5 or 6 projects lined up according to imdb. She doesn't have JLaw career but how many actresses from Sweden has her international career?
  4. Noomi Rapace character seems to be missing from the most recent synopsis. "In addition to the release date and logo, Fox also released an official synopsis, which features one glaring omission: Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with ALIEN: COVENANT, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition." from Collider
  5. This doesn't sound so good... 10,000 screenwriters, rewrites, a competing project, a cancelled said project, delayed start date, title changed again...
  6. I swear to God, I didn't know Chasten is in this one! Whoa I would think she would take a much bigger role rather than sharing the spotlight with Charlize...
  7. I don't how many viewers that Holiday Special draw annually but modern day audience who are used to seeing Dreamworks & Pixar & now Marvel stuff are not just as well acquainted to Snoopy & the Gang. Hence, sleeper hit status. The movie is just too gentle for a whole generation of audience who used to the comedic aggressiveness of modern day animation.
  8. True. I expect Peanuts to be that sleeper hit everyone has been waiting for. I expected at least 30% drop. That opening weekend number was good enough but this, this is just...
  9. Bond has an older audience demographics. Most of the younger audience have already seen Bond when MJ2 hit next weekend.
  10. Deadline is predicting $33M - $35M weekend #2, $130M by Sunday. Surely this can kiss $200M?

  13. The modern Egypt is mostly Islamic. This kind of ancient Egyptian mythology is only popular in the West, strangely enough.
  14. Yea but it is not as slam-bang as Armageddon and not as straight forward as Gravity. In fact I am surprised the less action-oriented Interstellar did $120M, more than Gravity
  15. Do you think there are way too many spy movies this year? Kingsmen $400M WW Spy $100M McCarthy movie Man from UNCLE MI5 $600M WW Spectre at least $800M WW Bridge of Spies American Ultra Taken 3, Mortdecai & Agent 47, all have spy elements in them Bring back some drama, romance & some mind-f*ck thriller like The Gift
  16. I guess he comes back from his neck-twist in TDKR, and goes all-out on the rest of Bruce Wayne's crew. And where is Mr Wayne?
