  1. i thought blood was a goner there for a sec, slade don't joke! he's good thanks to him plan is back on track as no one suspects blood anymore of being the skull guy ! can' t wait for oliver to find out that slade is alive that's going to be a shocker of epic proportion and yeah for roy joining the team , ok maybe not just yet but i suppose this means oliver will reveal himself to roy how else is he going to teach him to control his strength if he doesnt see his face!
  2. just watched episode 2 and 3 its not bad , its actually ok and i like josh holloway and i like the scientist , and his boss marg what's-her-name !... its too bad the ratings aren't there , hear its on the cancellation bear menu for him to pick up soon ... hopefully maybe they change their minds and give it a chance to grow and find an audience ! i just want him to have a succesful show or film , he's such eye candy lol
  3. i feel brad pitt character sticking out might serve a purpose in sense it took an outsider to connect with solomon's plight and whose values would allow him to extend a helping hand and do the right thing, solomon after all his troubles and escaping near death thanks to people who let him down , like that ex overseer who he trusted , he's so on his guard by that time that he's cautious when he overhears brad pitt and fassbender convo ! what a relief it must have been to hear someone who had that perspective and yet it takes some nudging to get him talking about the truth of his circumstances ,as we saw even those who felt for him but were from the south never tried to help him or free him but only make his circumstances a little bit more comfortable (whatever that meant more like make their conscience comfy) that itself was sad to see! so yeah i don't mind brad pitt character as its a very small yet pivotal part in pushing the plot along or else solomon would still be there like poor patsey and company ... gah it broke my heart to see her being left behind ...and the scenery as he left the plantation felt like waking up after a nightmare as it dissipates into thin air and you're still not sure you're up as feeling of terror lingers i like to think he tried to help her escape eventually through the underground railroad patsey deserves a happy end too
  4. what's importance of screentime have to do with impact of your presence on screen ? i haven't seen captain philips so i's say this is between fassbender and leto with leto having the edge!
  5. my best pic is a tie between HER and 12YAS i've made up my mind ! 12 feels personal in sense it ties into my history on an individual level and HER ties into our collective future as a species its more global !
  6. ok i saw 12YAS last night and did not even recognize lupita she 's amazing in this , her performance is so raw , so much feels that it would be an upset for the ages if she doesnt win the oscar how can anyone watch her scenes then watch jennifer lawrence and think jennifer did a better job with her character i'm starting to believe any hype jennifer is getting is just to create tension and debate, coz when it comes down to it there's no comparison, one is an oscar worthy performance that moves you to tears and stays with you a while after the other is your usual run-of-the- mill turn in a normal movie which i won't lie i can hardly evoke what emotion i felt at the time !
  7. ok i've now seen all the movies in this category except nebraska so my order is leonardo di caprio ( really just because i truly do want him to win and it is a great performance ) ejiofor chiwetel (seriously he's that good) matthew Mc (complex character indeed) bruce dern christian bale (i've seen him so much better elsewhere oh wait in the fighter and he won nuff said)
  8. A+ this movie was very hard to watch esp as a black woman , just have to put it out there! poor lupita character ill-treated by her master and his wife for being his favourite , this movie holds back no punch in putting stuff in your face the whipping, the punishments , etc dear me it felt too real, way too real ... i found solomon a wee bit naive in the beginning but without which there'd be no horrifying story to tell but ejiofor chiwetel is really good , how can you not feel for him , and as horrible as that was , coming back home must have been quite traumatizing too after surviving that ! he missed out on his kids growing up ... he's lucky he met up with brad pitt as i felt he was close to being broken in , slowly but methodically , little stuff showing you he was learning to be a slave, i hated that scene where he started singing , to me him not singing was a sign of defiance , a couple more years and who's to say he'd remember his name ... another scene i dislike is the masters preaching sunday or saturday mass , what a boatload of hypocrisy , how they ever lived for so long with themselves is beside me but its like that fallen overseer said you tell yourself whatever you need to for it to be right in your head so slaves were property michael fassbender you sir will pay for your sins , he was a mean drunk ! per bias opinion but i'm mad for benedict cumberbatch i can't say anything mean about him when he has that romantic flop of hair doing its thing , ok so he was a nicer slave owner but eliza was right he was still a slave owner and was never going to help him to that degree ( question of cholera or plague treatment huh?) but at the end of the day they all viewed them the same property whether they dislike the whole business they never thought to question it i actually enjoyed the score in this and the cinematography also , all these aspects contribute to making a comprehensive movie ! to think that we went from slavery , blacks fighting for their rights to read write learn , have a decent living , freedoms so that today's youth can throw it away carelessly prefering it to a lifestyle and culture of vulgarity and violence mixed in with an inexplicable posture of hostility can a person seriously sit down watch lupita then watch j-law and say tiffany 2.0 is a better acted role whuutt? 12YAS for best picture ! one thing i was curious about after the film as we didnt see too much , the life of free black men in those days most movies are usually about the slave experience but what about those who were born free men i think that's why 12yas works as a new take on the slavery experience ps: i sincerely say F**K YOU to my theatre for not making it a priority to show such an important movie esp on an island in the caribbean , its all fine to laugh at crap like madea but for crying out loud being a little more in touch with history would be welcome from time to time ah and also this movie blows the butler out of the water ! that's why its in and the butler ain't! (still love u oprah )
  9. wolf of wall street or her should have been number 1 , happy for pacific rim it was one of the most entertaining moviess last year movies that made the top 20 from my list her was 1 wows was 3 iron man 3 was 4 pacific rim was 11 rush was 14 now you see me was 20 stid / prisoners / smb / hobbit 2 also made my list among those in the top 21-40 spots think i prefer my list and its not even complete as i have quite a few to see yet ! but tomorrow i will watch 12YAS i got tired of my theatre bullshit , its not on their schedule for february or march so F**k them i got the screener i was more than willing to see this legally , i'm tired of talking best this best that when i haven't seen this yet
  10. about the bladder situation, knowing when to take a bathroom break during a 3hrs film this of course only applies if you're seeing same film multiple times , for the hobbit 2 it was the scene where bard approaches his boat to old town through a mist on the lake and the dwarves see the misty mountain , haul arse flash style and back as they come out of barrel full of fishes catching a movie on tv and knowing who is the director , most directors hand print is all over their film also seeing a movie and knowing the title just by seeing the actors in it esp when you've never seen the film watching entire filmography of certain actors even their more obscure works number one for me would be spending 3 to 4 hrs a day easy on a movie forum like this one here! lets face it we're not your usual moviegoer just by being here , and squabbling all day about our opinions on this or that i have to say i do value our members film opinions more than regular people in my real life just as much as sometimes i strongly disagree with them
  11. well well well episode 3 was certainly interesting , i was so not expecting mrs watson ,hmmm i'm with john on this why couldnt she be normal, even if per usual sherlock always makes sense i was very happy to see more of sherlock parents , him and microft are so weirdly unique .... and sherlock having a gf lolllll , john being dumbfounded about that ha! i was afraid at the end they'd have his plane explode, for some reason it reminds me of a scene in another show or film james bond?hmmm shortest plane ride ever can't believe its already over , darn british and their uber short seasons of course the wait will be excruciatingly long indeed
  12. watched episode 2 last night , the wedding one what a hoot , sherlock is such a sweetie pie as far as highly functionning sociopath can be !!! so much love thrown around awwwww he's sexy ! love benedict cumberbatch , he has such expressive eyes!
  13. this reminds me of that scene in notting hill when julia roberts character asks hugh grant's character why are guys so obsessed with boobs , half the planet population has them they may look nice to you but not sure you'd enjoy walking around with them forever ! but that's just my pov as a female
  14. you know unlike some stars would have you think its hard to spend millions , i can see why some can afford to do 1or 2 movies a year , go a couple without doing anything public just enjoying living the good life , eating well, have a personal trainer , travel the world , chill out yeah!! of course if you're into drugs booze and the nightlife where you have compulsion of being seen and seen spending that's another story some actors you have no idea what they're up to in between films , like they're real people too contrary to what the media would have you believe
  15. until i see 12yrs a slave , no matter i'm on leo bandwaggon even if it breaks my heart yet again!
  16. i'm going to cry everyday until i see 12yas why whyyyy ...going to search again for it , i will keep trying ... ps: i was wondering what is up with george clooney ? i don't think i've seen him since oscar last year when he won as producer of argo!
  17. one lousy theatre with 7 screens (2 auditoriums and 5 regular ones) on a tiny island in the middle of nowhere caribbean pfff its 7.25$ now a decade ago it use to be 5$ its ok in sense most movies come out same day as the US big openers mostly , but if you're like me and you want to see independant films or more artsy films that cater to awards circuit you're screwed this oscar season best pic noms played here captain phillips / gravity / WoWS so far and american hustle in february best animated : frozen dm2 the croods other films nominated in other categories : prisoners / the great gatsby / jackass presents bad grandpa / the lone ranger / the book thief hobbit 2 / star trek into darkness / iron man 3
  18. at the cinema iron man 3 / 3 times star trek into darkness / 2 times hobbit 2 / 3 times
  19. context people! for sure don't know how that would fly nowadays in today's news cycle! oprah along with hillary clinton are two women i grew up sincerely admiring and still do to this day !
  20. some actors have a life , and just dont care for the razzle dazzle of hollywood soufflé or decide the price isnt worth it !!! i was surprised by what's happened to ....aw crap 3 pages later and i've forgotten that girl , her name was posted along lindsey lohan pfff lindsey everytime i see that movie where she played twins with dennis quaid i cry for the little girl she was who everyone knew had so much potential and go figure where her life took a wrong turn down crazy rabbit hole! aaahhh i remember amanda bynes
  21. just watched episode one , dunno if i like the show yet but loved the atmosphere and more importantly i loved everything that came out of matthew McConaughey mouth , loved the scene in the car with woody where he asked him what he believed in ...about how everywhere is a sorta ghetto one thing i like about cable shows is that unlike network they take time to set the pace ,story and charactersa so you get to sink into it like a hot bath without being rushed and your brain is allowed to relax and think on its own without being spoonfed stuff in 40 mn with commercials will watch episode 2 in a bit .... seems MM shot this after DBC right? he seems to have a little bit more meat on him but still not back to his handsome self
  22. what some have said about meryl streep but insert jennifer lawrence instead i get fawning over someone who has had a long career of excellence behind them and still ahead of them but someone who's hardly done a few films and was lucky enough with her casting choices, that i don't get! and its not like i hate her, i actually did enjoy her performance in winter's bone as a newcomer who no one knew but her fans grate my nerves but like they say to each their own for sure there are a few actors i don't like acting or personal life, but not enough to give them my precious time i'd rather use fangirling over actors i do love, i'd have to think real hard that's why jlaw came up as she's constantly in your face on this forum as she's the IT girl these days
  23. what's a write up ? going for my walk now , let me know what its about and when i'm back i'll pick one , i'd love to do leo or joaquin
  24. i'd love for some day in the future they make a special oscar statue for best actress in the likeness of meryl streep coz she's that awesome and should be commemorated for all eternity !
  25. these awards are too complicated , but i'll pay extra attention this year so i can fill a nomination ballot in....(maybe make a file and fill it up as the year goes on ) not happy about iron man snub in most impressive bof perf! i resent STID nom in disappointing bof perf except for south park i have no idea who the nominees are , try putting names instead best tv drama is perfect except for that borefest that is mad men i've yet to see episode 3 of season 1 that's how far i got and i have the first 4 seasons on my hard-drive pfff GAME OF THRONES FTW yeah yeah i know there's BB too but i havent seen it yet cinematography is hard , a tie should happen same for best visuals , go SMAUG!!! great gatsby for production design dont watch horror so no comment documentary , have no idea who the noms are but i'll go with save willy despicable me 2 for animation , not that ive seen any of them but i did enjoy DM1 isnt WoWS more a dramedy then a comedy ? ooh i'm torned between 12YAS and WoWS for ensemble HER for original screenplay leto snubbed woah best actor is way harsh leo or joaquin (leo is my fav popular guy but joaquin is my fav underdog aww ) cate has this in the bag even here! no meryl you guys are haters ! nevermind THE QUEEN is above petty populism i'm partial to spike jonze for best director ( i really need to see 12 yrs its messing with any choice i make ) my best pic will be between WoWS, HER, 12YAS,BEFORE MIDNIGHT
