  1. there is a uniformization trend in wanting to have a more global appeal and relevance the world knows who won the oscar not so much bafta or goya or cesar and yet perhaps their choices are just as good or better!
  2. why would harvey cry? he'll cry if he walks away with no oscar guy and that's as unlikely as winning the lottery of that list i've seen gravity and AH ,really bummed i didnt go see cpt P but it had spanish subtitles and subtitles annoy me because i tend to read them instead of watching the screen properly will save myself for 12YAS and WOWS on the big screen !
  3. where's FLOPZEN numbers? kids in school now , let's see how the iceberg goes down
  4. well AH was a yawner , i was completely awake before watching it and now i'm drowsy as can be ...and to think i gave up watching new episode of castle and dracula to watch this instead ! what's done is done !
  5. i am so sleepy ...like OMG this was a tad boring and when a movie has you feeling that time seems twice as long i give this a B - , i'm tempted to give a C but the acting was ok and there were sequence now and then that were pretty good but yeah basically uneven in keeping my attention , some scenes bored me so much i wanted to take the film off then something more perky would follow and i'd be like ok so lemme see jeremy renner and christian bale = A jlaw =B+ she was self absorbed but i guess more real than all those other fakers but i kinda felt she was playing same character as in SLP hmmm or not such a stretch from that previous role so therefore that disqualifies her for a 2nd oscar , i've seen other actresses nominated regularly for a more wider variety of performances and still not win but she is good in it just not oscar good ! personally i don't think she deserved the oscar for SLP but winter's bone ...but eh people rarely get oscar for the role they should have ! amy adams = A- girl can act ! i love her range yet for all the individual acting the movie never gelled quite enough for me to be completely in it , i never felt involved with any except for renner's character as much as its unlikely a genuine politician with his heart on his sleeve don't see that often good thing this is a screener coz otherwise if i was at the theatre i'd be getting antsy feet , watching the time and moving around in my chair wanting to leave but i'm of the mind if i pay i stay and well in the end this is up for award season so i have to watch it
  6. sure i have! went to the cinema to see it , i was going to see THOR 2 again but they had taken it down so i went to see it dragging my feet (not a fan of the story), i don't have a problem with jennifer lawrence i like her i'm just not fawning over her and i think she's getting too much praise heaped her way with such a thin body of work and excellence behind her , that's something i might be ok with in 10yrs from now if she keeps up with quality acting in quality films
  7. i can now say i saw SMB (screener ) and sometime today AH and mandela bio ... see whether i change my tune on the jlaw fame monster !
  8. i have sympathy for her it must not be easy being that way the way i saw it she seemed at times to want to warm up , join in socializing but couldnt and when she did try it was a failure so she takes comfort in her routines (like the hotel bar scene) its easier said than done to be someone you're not and do stuff that don't come naturally to you , esp as you've been shaped and influence by your specific upbringing , perhaps that iceberg wants to melt but feels trap in its ice castle it has built itself and is now set in her ways , maybe it is sad but its the only way she knows now take walt disney he has his own sob story as he says and he had a different take on it and how it also influence the person he is today/his outlook on life and the decisions he takes ( and if not we wouldnt have the wonderful world of disney) this movie was just tugging at my heart strings like a violin... fudge! i'll admit i envied her getting a personal tour with him at disneyland , too bad she didnt allow herself to enjoy it , after all disneyland is the happiest place on earth i know it to be true as i visited disneyworld when i was younger
  9. i love it A+ its a lovely movie , very moving and emotional i started tearing up near the end when walt disney followed her to england and gave this speech about saving mr banks as they drank tea&whiskey?, he was stubborn in his endeavour to understand what made her tick and basically get her to sign the film off he sure sold that entire sequence for me , awesome job tom hanks ! emma thompson flawless as usual , she really seems to understand her characters ,such subtlety and restraint BRAVO! mary poppins author seems quite the complex person, her childhood her father and her mother , having to deal with all that as a kid ! pretty heavy shit this has to be one rare time i did not find colin farell annoying , he did his part well too with gravitas i'm curious though was he drinking because he was sick or was he sick because he was an alcoholic? he did his best to shield his children from reality but i'm not sure that was the best way to go about it and clearly his daughter later on came to disagree about that hence her creating Mrs poppins who told it straight like it was and holding on so tight to her i think her mother could have done a better job at holding herself up but clearly she was overwhelmed most of the time , i can certainly understand that esp if her husband wasnt of much assistance! (ps: saw this thanks to a screener) and now i'll go watch AH (screener too ) and their over-exaggerated yankee accents (some poster here said so lol)
  10. think next movie i see in theatre will be WOWS its slated to come in january , still wondering about 12YAS i'm trying to hold off alternative methods to seeing it but its getting increasingly difficult to wait (i want to see it on the big screen )
  11. well i guess no movies for me this weekend this is what's playing at my theatre right now: walking with dinosaurs / madea xmas / paranormal activity / walter mitty / grudge match / frozen / anchorman 2 / 47 ronin (3D) there is nothing i want to pay money for !!
  12. well after more than a decade of awards season behind me i try not to care too much about results if i don't have a horse in the race and so far all i've seen from list of hopefuls is rush/gravity/the butler and frankly only rush has savign grace in my eyes out of those 3 gravity was good i won't deny that but not good enough for me to want to talk about for weeks afterward , heck i haven't given the film a thought since when you think about it nothing really happen apart from her spinning around in space until she finds a way to get back to earth but it was well done for such a minimalist plot same for the butler ,i haven thought about it ! last year i was so psyched over ARGO i was always defending it and talking about it and my 2nd fav was LES MISERABLES this year pretty thin... i need to get cracking on screeners coz otherwise i won't see anything anytime soon , i might as well be living on pluto!
  13. Still haven't bothered with scandal but for some reason last night and today I felt in the moods for BONES so I decided to catch up on season 8 that's being catching dust forever on my laptop lol 2 more episodes and I'm done! Then I can get season 9 episodes and hopefully see it before 2014 is over ha ha ha
  14. Ugh I can't read through pages of lawsbians or CF gloating I'd Insert #whatever gif# here if i was on my laptop/internetFor who cares go check my great post/gifs in IM3 thread as to who gives a better party tony or katniss LOLLL and mind you they both have some sorta PTSD
  15. I have only 2 hopes that gravity doesn't win best picture and jennifer lawrence doesn't win best supp actress everything else I can live with or don't care either way
  16. Interesting nominees I haven't seen much of anything really gravity
  17. AH won't win anything I'm expecting backlash for this oscar bait ! LolPlus other fishes in the pond are way more appealing
  18. In 2013 I tried watching before midnight and the first 10mn confused the hell out of me I was like whaaaaat the f/h? That I resolved not to watch it until I rewatched sunrise/sunset I was so sure they went their separate ways again which was a few yrs ago So anyhoo tonight I got copy of sunset and so now I can watch all 3 back to back Watching sunrise(1995) right now , amazing movie when its done right bla bla bla can be incredibly engaging these two do bla bla perfect Ethan hawke is sooooo cute (still has his baby face from reality bites) and today he's aged his face is hard (dunno what right word is)
  19. I'm so jealous tele ,I feel I've been waiting ages for 12AS to come to my island !
