  1. Friday Part V is deplorable and incompetently put together...but it's hilarious. Ethel and her hillbilly son? The killer being...Roy the paramedic who we meet for literally 5 seconds? The newspaper clipping of Jason which has him posing in the woods for a photo? The two minute scene of Reggie's older brother taking a dump? Kirsten's mum's daughter from Elm Streets 3 and 4 doing the robot to that awesome Pseudo Echo song? It's just wild. Disco Enchiladas (ooh baby song) Friday the 13th V remix - YouTube
  2. I hope Brian Tyler ups his game and that the next movie doesn't look so...flat. I appreciate that there were restrictions in place during filming, but it really does feel so, so small - especially considering how big the first three films feel. But, hey, look at the fifth part of any other horror franchise. We hit the jackpot with 5cream (though, despite how thoroughly bad they are, I do have a soft spot for the seedy, completely meanspirited and hilarious Friday the 13th Part V and the gothic, tonal mess that is Elm Street 5).
  3. Most of these movies are good. It has a much better average than most franchises. Yet the internet is still complaining about this announcement. Glad to see that genre bias is still alive.
  4. I saw the first movie in London, where audiences don't react to...anything. I'll never forget the audible groan from the audience when Depp popped up.
  5. Only if it's decently recorded this time. CoG sounds like it was recorded underwater with a potato. Beyond muffled.
  6. People deciding that a movie should be well received based on...a leaked plot. People thinking a movie might get bad reviews just because of negative sentiment toward its creator when the movie is a sequel to Crimes of Grindelwald.
  7. Brief cuts from the interviews with Raimi and Cumberbatch. Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness Will Be ‘On The Level Of No Way Home’, Says Benedict Cumberbatch – Exclusive Images | Movies | Empire (empireonline.com) Most important part: Beyond the chaos, carnage, and Chavez of it all, though, Multiverse Of Madness is a Doctor Strange story through and through – one that will drill down right into the character’s core. “There’s a lot of reckoning,” says Cumberbatch. “And a lot of self-discovery. Strange is almost a stranger to himself before this film unfolds and reveals what, essentially, is in his nature, that he then has to either confront or resist or fall into or become.” The answers to the questions of who Strange really is, won’t have easy answers. “There are some very bold ideas, and some extraordinary tests of Strange and encounters,” Cumberbatch continues. “There are some very unexpected conclusions.”
  8. I'm torn because I love Taika's movies, but I find him absolutely insufferable as a personality. I don't doubt the talk that the dude's an absolute nightmare to be around.
  9. I absolutely get that, but every other main character feels lived in and seems to have an existence outside of Bruce/Batman. Selina's actions and behaviour feel completely inconsistent - and not in a fun, unpredictable, 'Catwoman' way but in a very artificial way which serves to only advance the plot/Bruce's character. I absolutely agree that she's nowhere near as badly integrated as Selina is in TDKR (whose role is the absolute nadir of Nolan's filmography), but she never once felt like an actual human being to me. If it were literally any other character, I don't think I'd be bothered at all, but it's Catwoman, and female autonomy and independence is what she's represented for a long time now.
  10. There's something to be said about how 30 years ago, a Batman movie was genuinely invested in Selina Kyle's story and struggles. Her quest for autonomy is centre stage (literally the last shot of the movie) while Bruce's character is only really explored though his relationship with her. However many years and Catwomen later, and all subsequent versions of Catwoman have just felt like pawns to strategically move around the plot to give the hero his necessary hero beats. I hope someone more articulate than me will write a think-piece about it. It bothers me.
  11. Any chance this is getting Black Panther's slot? Everyone is assuming that another movie will be pulled forward instead of this one being pushed back.
  12. I admired it but wasn't even remotely invested in it.
  13. Sidney's and Gale's scenes together in this movie are so special to me. The kitchen island scene?
  14. Keaton hinted a few months ago that he and Burton were working on something.
