  1. This could be a bomb for the ages. Jackman cannot pick decent non-Wolverine projects to save his life.
  2. The problem this series will always have is that outside of the park being a disaster, which can only be done once (JW trying it again the second time was pushing it as it was), there's nowhere else for it to go. The route they've taken this time does feel like particularly piss-poor fan-fiction, though. Claire really loves her dinosaurs now.
  3. Better they're disappointed now than when they're in the theater, and the lack of the 'Blum slowly crushes their spirit.
  4. Someone on Facebook just shared the trailer, adding "Yay, Jeff Goldblum is back!!" I did my civic duty, telling him and, by extension, all his friends, to be aware that Goldblum was hardly in the movie. A few have responded with tearful emojis.
  5. I remember the amount of shit you got on here for your totally unmoved early-word review of JW. You were so right, my friend.
  6. Because I have no life and it's been on my mind I made a list of the differences between the film and book. I don't think these made it worse and in some cases added to the immediate drama, but just for anyone who's not read the source material and is curious:
  7. A) Damn, talk about easily pleased. B ) I don't think anyone's expecting a Get Out style box office run. But it's definitely going to be as much of a hit as a movie like this could reasonably expect — and I say that as someone who thought it was just okay.
  8. Genuinely surprised at how poor that trailer is. The movies may be bad but, like Snyder films, should at least provide great promo material. They don't even make Malcolm's inclusion exciting - he's just suddenly there, near the beginning for what no doubt is his only scene. Also, fucking LOL at the idea Claire cares that much about the dinos now. That throwaway scene of her feeling bad about the wounded one in the previous film couldn't have known how much emotional legwork it was going to be doing for the entire sequel setup.
  9. Yeah, probably should have double checked that. Either way, as an adaptation the script is merely ok.
  10. I went to the cinema tonight. The guy right next to me rustled his giant bag of Doritos for a full hour. If I were to say anything, I'd be seen as the troublemaker because loudly eating food in a movie theater is normal. This is why people may not like to go to the cinema if they can watch a new movie at home.
  11. Just saw it. Couple of thoughts: — The movie is... ok. I'm a Room fanatic so I'm basically the target audience, but I also love the book and this just doesn't come close to the emotional depth that had. It can't, it moves too fast to let anything sit. This means the first 40 minutes prior to the on-set scenes are stuck in a weird dramedy limbo that are actually quite boring. But once filming begins it turns into the comedy it was made to be, and works well enough. Franco's decent as Wiseau but probably should have left writing and directing duties to someone else. — I was watching at a relatively small cinema, but it was sold out... and my audience went nuts. They were even clapping at the end. For the UK this is almost unheard of. I don't know what it means for its BO prospects as you kind of have to know/like The Room in the first place to get the most out of the movie, but I think its future status as a cult hit at the very least is in the bag.
  12. Wow, this thread is... intense. I'll never quite understand Disney fanboys who are basically hyped about a gigantic holding company at this point, but whatever floats your boat.
  13. Doubt it. Everything about his inclusion from the get-go has screamed 'easy nostalgia'. But I like him so much in JP I'm happy to check back in with him for a scene or two.
  14. The cinema can be expensive depending on where you live and other patrons can be very annoying. I enjoy the escapism of a theater experience, but it'd be disingenuous to wonder why many people would prefer to catch new releases from the convenience of their own home.
  15. The choice of movies on the streaming giants is currently terrible, but yeah, this is the future. Convenience always wins.
  16. Raegr, just because I put your previous incarnation on ignore doesn't mean you had to go to the hassle of making another one.
  17. Funny, I was about to say that (so far) it looks much smaller... and that that's a good thing. I know of course it will be bigger because it's illegal for sequels not to be bigger, but I liked the idea of paring it down a bit.
  18. Sometimes you see that a movie exits and can barely conceive how enough people thought it was a good enough idea to make it.
  19. It was a moment of genuine heroism, but man I have no interest whatsoever in seeing this.
  20. Oh, so the volcano thing is actually a major plot point of the next one. I though @CoolioD1 was joking when he mentioned that yesterday. Huh. That sounds... huh.
  21. The Lost World's chief failing is definitely that it's totally oblivious about what dickheads most of its good guys are. In the movie's head, Vince Vaughn's character is someone the audience roots for.
