Apes is a second sequel, so most people will have already decided if they're on board or not. Very hard for reviews to change that. Just be glad it was (apparently) a good movie.
I think one of the Apes franchise's biggest selling points — the realistic mo-cap — just isn't much of a novelty anymore. Fans should probably be happy they got a good threequel at all, really.
Looks like a TV movie. Bad timing too, there was already a major Churchill biopic released in the UK about a month ago that got tepid reviews. The character has been done to death on film.
The hell? I last checked this thread on Saturday morning and people were projecting 130m+. What happened?
Good number all the same, of course. Marvel's consistency is becoming surreal.
Yup, it's a hot mess. I don't think they realize how effective keeping the Jumanji world a mystery in the first one was: it looks tame as hell here. Also, at the risk of questioning Jumanji logic, wtf would there be a retro video game version of the board game?
I actually liked the first film, being the perfect age for it, but if they're relying on any sense of nostalgia from my generation I think they're going to be badly disappointed.
Reading Barnum's wiki it's a real shame this movie's going down the hagiography route: there were so many dubious areas of his life it would make a great biopic if done right.
