  1. I do find it odd that SMH hasn't performed a bit better. A 300m+ total is great of course, but its drops aren't reflecting the good WOM it surely has.
  2. Apes is a second sequel, so most people will have already decided if they're on board or not. Very hard for reviews to change that. Just be glad it was (apparently) a good movie.
  3. I think one of the Apes franchise's biggest selling points — the realistic mo-cap — just isn't much of a novelty anymore. Fans should probably be happy they got a good threequel at all, really.
  4. But iJack said it was going to do 60m+? I don't know who to believe...
  5. Baumer has no problem putting his hands up and saying "I was wrong", though.
  6. There is a method: you just want these films to do really well so you make zealous predictions accordingly. We've all done it at some point, I guess.
  7. Looks like a TV movie. Bad timing too, there was already a major Churchill biopic released in the UK about a month ago that got tepid reviews. The character has been done to death on film.
  8. Keep an eye on the UK gross for this. The first film was briefly the biggest grossing movie ever there before Avatar came along.
  9. Are there people who actually think this'll perform decently in the US? This thread is so full of snark I honestly can't tell.
  10. Odd that SMH seems to be having no effect on WW at all. Playing to different demos?
  11. There's definitely something to that. When I was at university the skinny rocker look was in vogue. I'll leave you to guess how long ago that was.
  12. It's kind of weird that having been on this site for years I still need other people to tell me if dailies are any good or not.
  13. Wait, Besson's actually played up the Dunkirk rivalry? I thought that was just a running gag on this forum...
  14. The hell? I last checked this thread on Saturday morning and people were projecting 130m+. What happened? Good number all the same, of course. Marvel's consistency is becoming surreal.
  15. Yeah, I guess. Though it's often the least-liked among the fanbase (and rightly so).
  16. Is this the best reviewed 'threequel' ever? In fact the trilogy has quietly become one of the most consistently well-received of all time.
  17. Yup, it's a hot mess. I don't think they realize how effective keeping the Jumanji world a mystery in the first one was: it looks tame as hell here. Also, at the risk of questioning Jumanji logic, wtf would there be a retro video game version of the board game?
  18. I actually liked the first film, being the perfect age for it, but if they're relying on any sense of nostalgia from my generation I think they're going to be badly disappointed.
  19. Reading Barnum's wiki it's a real shame this movie's going down the hagiography route: there were so many dubious areas of his life it would make a great biopic if done right.
