  1. It's hard to feel strongly about Disney now one way or another, just as it's hard to feel strongly about any large holding company.
  2. First I'm hearing about this movie/trainwreck. They're really trying to make Cara Delevigne into a movie star, aren't they? Also, Clive Owen deserved more prolonged success. ETA: I don't actually relish the prospect of stuff like this bombing. Expensive original blockbusters aren't exactly frequent these days.
  3. Haven't read the book but I'm aware of its mixed reception. Writing a novel about social media probably seems really zeitgeisty and important at the time but use of the technology changes so fast anything that tackles it feels dated even with a few years.
  4. They don't want it to be a big hit. The producers have said they hope it makes less than 150m DOM.
  5. Hope it's still dialogue-light. Atmospheric views of the city will be enough.
  6. Come on BKB, you're a great guy and I love you to bits but you would be the very first to admit your taste in movies is generally terrible. That you liked JW is perhaps the worst indictment it can possibly receive.
  7. Will it? JW may have been shit (I'm contractually obligated to say that every time I mention it) but there's no reason to think the next movie's box office will veer much in either direction at this point.
  8. Out of the upcoming 4, I think I'm most looking forward to the third one.
  9. Post production touch-ups aren't uncommon. Think RDJ looks that svelte in real life?
  10. Yup, it's way too long. For some reason when a film's production is rushed it always makes the end product feel unbearably bloated. You'd think they'd have the opposite problem.
  11. Huh. Well I guess if even a film like Spectre can make almost 900m then you know the franchise is still a license to kill print money. I'm guessing Craig will be back for one more.
  12. The order of scenes matters very much, because they determine whose point of view the movie takes. Change them around a bit and make us see things from Lawrence's from very beginning, and the tone/genre changes dramatically. You then still have the dilemma of how to end the movie, but the video admits that.
  13. Gibson is only 16 years older than Wahlberg. Gotta love Hollywood parent casting.
  14. So has anyone figured out why the trailer to this blew up, beyond being uncommonly effective for the genre? It's not like the previous movie has much of a nostalgia draw for my generation, and I'm the wrong side of 30...
  15. A nice little video on the film this could have been by doing nothing more than changing the order of scenes. Watch if you're an aspiring screenwriter:
  16. Has Netflix released viewing figures for Sandler's movie? Not that I much care how well his dogshit western comedy did either way, just thought they were pretty tight-lipped about that stuff.
  17. I've been meaning to watch this franchise. Is it fine to just start with 5 (ie. when the Rock shows up)?
  18. I suspect Blunt would have killed it as BW, and I say that as someone who doesn't mind Johannson as much as most round here.
  19. I had no idea it opened next week. Advertising seems really muted here in the UK. Mind you, everytime I say that about an imminent big movie it tends to be as huge as expected.
  20. My advice? Just enjoy them in their current form. Hollywood isn't exactly great at making existing properties better these days.
  21. It's hard to compare UK and US critics, because RT acknowledges about 10-15 of the former and about 200 of the latter for a big movie.
  22. I love a meltdown as much as the next guy, but I'm totally expecting mixed reviews, ok box office and the world to carry on spinning.
