  1. I agree that Dory OS gross is disappointing. That is undeniable. But to analyze how a OS figure has been done is necessary to see the different markets. It is not the same to make a third of the OS gross in one single market like Frozen or Zootopia than to have a more shared grossed like Minions or Pets. In that sense and for hypothetical sequels, the Illumination films are more likely to increase than the Disney films. As you well say, Pixar has waited a lot to deliver the Nemo sequel. And since Nemo grossed most of its money in Europe and Japan, and considering that those are not expanding markets, I see normal this behaviour (I say this now. Before release, my Pixar fan side was thinking this could make much more money. I was obviously wrong). I would say that the same pattern can be applied to Hobbit, for instance.
  2. I was not excluding it. I just was trying to give a reason why Dory has not been able to match JB and Zootopia OS figures. It is obvious that Zootopia was a monster in China and much more higher than Dory. But another debate is if Dory even had grossed $150m in China it would have been considered a success or still a disappointment. But it is unquestionable that in terms of real dollars, independently of subjective considerations, China has been essential to set the difference between Dory, Zootopia and JB. After this we can debate what should have grossed Dory to be considered a success OS, 700? 750? 800? Hard to say.
  3. Grosses OS without China: Finding Dory: $487m Jungle Book: $452m Zootopia: $447m Maybe some can say that it is unfair to not take into account one market, independently of its size, but in this case, China has been the key.
  4. Maybe is too much for ask, but are there any predictions for those Nov-Dec movies?

  6. It set the biggest Wednesday ever (national holiday) with €2.4m. And next week (October 24th-26th) we have Fiesta del Cine (€2.90 tickets). It can have another big week. "A Monster..." is definitely a monster...
  7. As @efialtes76 said, WOM seems to be great. "A monster calls" has set the biggest Wednesday ever in Spain. It grossed €2.4m on Wednesday 12th (National holiday) and sold 359,345 admissions. It was the second biggest film around the world, just behind Operation Mekong (China). The cume after 6 days is €7.3m. It seems early to call it a disappointment...
  8. As you already said, nothing impressive. Disappointing

It ranks #16 all-time (#49 adjusted) The Impossible: €42,408,547 (6,129,025 admissions). It ranks #3 all-time (#16 adjusted)

  20. That is a lot of pressure for me MCU adjusting DOM and OS by DOM inflation (DOM / OS / WW): 1. The Avengers: 678.2 / 770.7 / 1.449b 2. Age of Ultron: 471.5 / 904.7 / 1.376b 3. Civil War: 408 / 734.5 / 1.142b 4. Iron Man 3: 435.7 / 700.3 / 1.136b 5. Guardians of the Galaxy: 353.2 / 387.0 / 740.2 6. The Winter Soldier: 275.3 / 407.7 / 683.0 7. Iron Man 2: 342.9 / 284.5 / 627.5 8. Iron Man: 384.0 / 240.1 / 624.2 9. The Dark World: 219.8 / 375.8 / 595.6 10. Ant-Man: 185.1 / 332.8 / 517.9 11. Thor: 197.7 / 220.0 / 417.7 12. Captain America: 192.9 / 156.0 / 348.9 13. The Incredible Hulk: 162.6 / 112.3 / 274.9 DCU adjusting DOM and OS by DOM inflation (DOM / OS / WW): 1. Batman v Superman: 330.4 / 542.0 / 872.4 2. Suicide Squad: 313.8 / 406.0 / 719.8 (not adjusted by ER. Inflation 1) 3. Man of Steel: 310.0 / 338.3 / 648.3 And finally, MCU+DCU adjusted by ER, not by inflation, and without China: 1. The Avengers: 1.245b 2. Age of Ultron: 1.100b 3. Civil War: 952m 4. Iron Man 3: 945m 5. Batman v Superman: 777m 6. Suicide Squad: 719m 7. Guardians of the Galaxy: 601m 8. Iron Man 2: 546m 9. Man of Steel: 545m 10. The Winter Soldier: 529m 11. The Dark World: 504m 12. Iron Man: 502m 13. Ant-Man: 399m 14. Thor: 382m 15. Captain America: 319m 16. The Incredible Hulk: 219m
  21. As @Jason has said, it is easy for me to change the ER. I have just to collect the current ER (or whenever ER) and change one single column. That is maybe 5 minutes. I do not have to recalculate everything again To adjust with current ER is precisely to give a better view of the magnitude of each film with the current context (if we do not take into account inflation, of course). And people tend to forget very quickly and just live present. We live in a YA society. For that reason I think it is more useful to know that with today ER Civil War would had beaten IM3 than if we say that if Civil War had had 2013's ER it would had made about 1.3b. Although that is just my opinion. I can give lists using certain ER and if some of you prefer it, I can fix a historical moment (as Avatar release being the biggest film ever). We can do it as people prefer.
  22. The story is devastating, horrible, extremely sad and, I fear, very realistic. I saw it 3 weeks ago and I still think about it. Fortunately, I have never lived in a country in war, but my grandparents, for example, did (Spanish Civil War, during 1936-1939). They told me some stories about living under bombs, the misery generated and how horrible it was. They always cried when they remembered those stories. If they were still alive, I would try to prevent them to not see this film. It is one of the most frightening films ever. I do not remember to have experienced this fear and anxiety with a film. But in the same way, it is a mandatory film. Everybody should see it.
  23. I have my list (54 films for the moment), but I want to see some more films before deadline. I will post it later. I had not seen Grave of the fireflies. Such a great film. It is already in my top 10. But it is the most depressing film I have ever seen. I do not want to see it again for a long time.
