  2. Hobbit was probably the most boring billionaire run to follow. I remember well those days here. 718m OS were seen as an acceptable result, but nothing special. If Hobbit had been as good as LOTR, we could have talked about, maybe, 850-900 or even 1 billion OS. Hobbit dropped about a 40% in attendance relative to LOTR everywhere. Maybe, we can see it now as a good result, but in that moment it was seen as a disappointment (both quality and box office). And you can understand it since quality dropped a lot relative to LOTR. But Hobbit dropped both in US and OS markets. It was a normal drop. In this case, Dory is maybe not as good as Nemo, but it has been very well received (94% in RT is huge). The best proof is that US has not dropped in attendance but in OS markets it has had a huge drop. That is not very usual (I do not remember a so clear case). If Dory had done, let's say, 350m DOM, I would see the result as something normal. But with these results, I see Dory as a disappointment OS.

  6. It is quite known. I do not know if today is mandatory, but I had to read it at the school (20 years ago). However, we all know that it is a complex book. Probably this side of the book make it harder to be more popular. Then add that we study essentially Spanish Literature and Spanish authors. And when we become adults we read nothing or close to nothing.
  7. That is, at least, a billion Yuan contender, isn't it? I do not have exact data, but if I remember well the second part did about $200m
  8. Wow. Those are really enormous figures. I love previous films, but I would be fine with the 500 million of Dawn of... In 2014 the ER were better and China seems to not be growing as it used to. I wish it can make 600-700 or even 800 as you are saying, but for the moment I do not see it. 500-525 is my range.
  9. 40% drop. We can asume another $20m from current markets and maybe $10m from Japan. I am thinking in 405-410 OS range. So 720-725 WW final.
  10. That would mean SLOP is still making quite more money during weekdays than on weekends, because if SLOP has done €0.9m during last weekend and it has done €3m since August 21st, it would had done €2.1m during August 22nd-25th period and 29th-31st combined. I know schools are still closed but the difference still seems very big.
  11. Until August 21st: Finding Dory: €17,447,572 Jungle Book: €16,849,211 The Secret Life of Pets: €14,435,795 With the €0.9m weekend, I guess SLOP is very close to €16m right now.
  12. Glad to see that any list will count, no matter length. I think I have not seen 100 animated films... I will post my list as soon as possible.
  13. I do not know. It seems that Japan has gradually lost interest in Hollywood films in favor of local films, but that is probably just one of the reasons. Worse quality was probably another reason (like in every other country). But I do not have enough info to give a real explanation. Maybe other posters with more info can give a more reliable argument.
  14. But Star Wars VII is still Star Wars. It had Solo, Leia, Luke. It is a direct sequel. FB shares the same universe but not characters (at least, not main characters). IMHO, I see quite more probable a Hobbit's scenario than a SW's. Maybe not plummeting in Japan as Hobbit did, but still quite below than HP series.
  15. I just suggested it to know what would be the real order of the WW list with the ER adjusting. But please, do it as you want. I do not pretend to change anything
  16. Great job as always But just a suggestion. Would not be more clear to order the new table by the new WW gross instead with the original? Just saying...
  17. The adjustment is just by ER. Not inflation or 3D. And I said that HP3-HP7 adjust to 500-550 OS with today ER, not HP1. HP1 remains to be the biggest HP film BY FAR. With one month ago ER it would do $760m. And then you can apply inflation and 3D. It was a monster.
  18. The same happened with Hobbit (me included), which is the best reference IMO. Hobbit did about the same OS figures than LOTR but with 10 years of inflation, 3D and expansion of new markets. And with way better ER than now. Today, just TH3 would had done over $600m with two first parts making just over $550m. Concerning Harry Potter, HP3-HP7 would had done between $500m and $550m. And last film, DH2 would do with today ER about $725m. Considering it was the 2011 film event and the final of the series, and taking into account that Fantastic Beasts has Rogue One as an enormous competitor, I think that 550 OS would already be a success (if the film has a similar quality to HP films, of course). (The figures adjusted by ER were calculated about one month ago. Maybe those figures are now a bit different, but I do not think that result would change too much).
  19. August 12-14 (bold titles are local films) # (Last). Title: Total Gross (nº of weekend) 1 (1). The secret life of pets: €10,026,748 (2nd) 2 (2). Suicide Squad: €6,609,647 (2nd) 3 (N). Ghostbusters: €737,436 (NEW) 4 (*). Jason Bourne: €4,396,112 (3rd) 5 (N). Nerve: €280,554 (NEW) 6 (*). The legend of Tarzan: €5,936,564 (4th) 7 (N). Al final del túnel: €210,718 (NEW) 8 (*). Now you see me 2: €4,238,903 (4th) 9 (*). Zipi y Zape y la isla del capitán: €2,024,056 (3rd) 10 (*). Bad moms: €1,158,617 (3rd) 11 (*). Pawn sacrifice: (NEW) 12 (*). Finding Dory: €17,313,335 (8th) 13 (*). Ice Age 5: €5,827,102 (5th) 14 (*). Le goût des merveilles: €321,983 (3rd) 15 (N). The violin player: €43,044 (NEW) 16 (*). Coming Home (Gui lai): €128,193 (2nd) 17 (*). Me before you: €3,437,639 (7th) 18 (*). The Conjuring 2: €6,372,760 (9th) 19 (*). The Purge: €2,753,453 (5th) 20 (*). The Shallows: €2,250,659 (5th) Pets is a beast. I think it can even reach €20m, what would imply to be (for the moment) the biggest film of the year.
