  1. It can beat Frozen in Spain (in local currency). Sing is becoming bigger than we had thought
  2. Probably both reasons are valid. However, being a low ratio (1 ticket per person and year), I do not see it extremely low, taking into account it was at 0.5 ticket per person just 3 years ago. I guess it will continue improving, maybe at a lower rate, but still relevant (if my data are correct there have been sold 112 million more tickets in 2016 than in 2015). Among consolidated markets, Germany had a 1.5 tickets per person ratio in 2014. It does not seem a too far mark for China.
  3. December 30th-January 5th: 1. Justice League 2. Guardians of the Galaxy 2 3. Wonder Woman 4. War for the Planet of the Apes 5. Beauty and the Beast 6. Dunkirk 7. Blade Runner 2049 8. Coco 9. Thor: Ragnarok 10. The LEGO Batman movie
  4. @Jason has become a better source than me for this kind of calculations Anyway, I always use an easy and real example to show the damage that ER would have made today to Avatar: The film grossed €77,032,767 in Spain. The reported figure in dollars is $111,967,209 (Dec 2009 + Special edition). That means that ER for the film was 1.4535. Today the dollar/euro change is 1.05681. That implies that the €77m are today $81,408,999. Just in Spain, Avatar would had grossed $30m less or a 27% drop. You can apply the same to the whole Eurozone, what includes another big markets like France, Germany or Italy. And as @Telemachos says, other currencies of very big markets (Russian Ruble, Brazilian Real, Mexican Peso) have dropped even more than Euro. To repeat what Avatar did, you need an enormous boost from China. But even making $800m in China will not guarantee to repeat the $2b OS figure. A2 should repeat LOCALLY the results of the first part everywhere to achieve that. Never say never, but today and unless the film amazes and surprises again, to repeat results is, IMHO, highly unlikely.
  5. I cannot believe that the idea of Spirited Away dethroned can become real. What an absurd and amazing run. I have not seen the film, so I have a question, not just for you, but for everyone who has watched the film: Is Your Name a so good film? I mean, I think that Spirited Away is a masterpiece. Would it be a worthy successor?
  6. For sure. It has done €0.5m during last week. In Spain, this first week is as big as the previous one. Many people still have vacations and children return to school next Monday. And Friday is national holiday. We can still expect big numbers this week for every film.
  7. December 30th-January 1st (bold titles are local films) # (Last). Title: Total Gross (nº of weekend) 1 (3) . Sing!: €7,909,874 (2nd) 2 (N) . Passengers: €1,481,468 (NEW) 3 (1) . 8. I guess fatigue and economical crisis. HP1: 6.3m admissions (#14 all time adjusted) HP2: 5.2m (#27 all time adjusted) HP3: 3.5m HP4: 3.9m HP5: 3.2m HP6: 2.4m HP7: 2.2m HP8: 2.3m As you can see the two first movies were big events. Comparing with all time adjusted list in USA, HP1 and HP2 rank similar in Spain to Avatar and Avengers in USA, respectively. But since HP3 we saw a substantial drop in interest, probably because of fatigue. Fans went to see the films, probably more than once, but GA became tired (probably like in other countries). And since HP6 (2009) the drop was even bigger because economical crisis, which hit enormously to Spain. You can add piracy, but I think the two first factors were decisive to understand the lost of interest in Harry Potter.
  9. Excellent run. In Spain it is already reaching the lowest grosser of Harry Potter (DH1). Taking into account the fatigue the franchise had here, the number has much merit. Maybe these years of rest since DH2 have helped. Very good perspectives for upcoming sequels, not just here, but everywhere.
  10. The usual price in my usual cinema is €7.70 and it is not the most expensive of the country. Madrid or Barcelona are way more expensive. But for example, 4 million among the 101 million tickets sold had a €2.90 price each because of Fiesta del Cine. Those discounts make the average ticket price can drop.
  11. More exact data: €601,770,637 (+5% relative to 2015) - 100,275,624 admissions (+6%) - €6.01 average ticket price (€6.07 in 2015) Local films: €109,040,951 - 18,144,453 admissions (it is a 18% of the total) It is curious that among the last 6 years, just in 2013 a foreign film has won the year (The Croods if we take into account natural year or Desolation of Smaug if we take into account films reelased during the year). Torrente 4 won 2011, The Impossible 2012, 8AV in 2014, 8AC in 2015 and A monster calls in 2016. Top 5 of the year: 1. A monster calls: €26.5m 2. Pets: €21.3m 3. Finding Dory: €17.6m 4. Jungle Book: €16.8m 5. The revenant: €14.2m
  12. In this case, the draw is not any actor but the title. Beauty & the Beast is one of the most beloved Disney classic ever. I see hard this can not reach the billion. IMO, it is the main favorite to be the second biggest film of the year WW (behind Episode VIII).
  13. IMHO, BvS did a decent gross in China. Nothing to be ashamed of. It was coming from MOS's 394m Yuan. That means a 57% increase for BvS relative to MOS. Just for reference, Civil War has increased a 65% relative to Iron Man 3, which was released the same year than Man of Steel. Both increases are quite similar.
  14. I am conscious that China has stopped its increase, but some figures seem low. IMO, I think both GotG2 and Pirates 5 will clear 1b and TF5 should reach 2b.
  15. Thank you very much This chart shows how much is increasing the market. Every film, excepting TA, are from 2015-2016 period. For example, in China happens exactly the same. Among the current top 10 in local currency, there is just one film previous to 2015.
  16. Do you have a list like this but in local currency? I see it more interesting since it gives a more real perception because of ER changes. Thank you in advance
  17. According presales, Rogue One is on par to Star Trek Beyond, which did half of TFA total gross (local currency). Of course, R1 can have a better run than Star Trek, but for the moment it does not seem likely to reach TFA.
  18. Very illustrative. Thank you For reference, Star Trek Beyond did 440m Yuan, what means a 53% of SW7. That would mean that China behaves like the rest of the world with Rogue One.
  19. I see. Those lists must be data from post weekend days (Monday or Tuesday). So yes, it could be more clear. However, if it were more clear, people would not pay for it
  20. Those are official weekend data (Friday-Sunday).
  21. December 23rd-25th (bold titles are local films) # (Last). Title: Total Gross (nº of weekend) Admissions (drop) 1 (1) . Rogue One: €7,868,358 (2nd) 2 (N) .
