  1. I thought it became pretty terrible once he went back in time and met all those writers. Nothing very compelling really happened, which made the film feel even more bloated than it was. D
  2. I'm so disappointed with John Carter. It deserves way more than it got.
  3. Just came out of the midnight showing! This was the funniest film I've seen in recent memory - it had me and everyone else in constant laughter. Channing Tatum is absolutely fantastic in this, he's actually got a ton of comedic talent. Jonah Hill was funny, too, as well as many others. But this film was actually surprisingly sweet without ever being cheesy. Look out for the scene where Jonah Hill verbally abuses an older woman and then shoves her into a stack of shoe boxes - I was in tears!A
  4. This never truly felt like a story. Instead, it gave me the impression of too many short films edited into one long film. The story just didn't mesh very well. I thought his depression was dealed with far too quickly. The actors are good (but did not deserve the Oscar at all), but i did like the dog very much and the lead actress. I have to mention the music, which I found could be shockingly grating. It was such an immense nuisance. Nothing about it is actually very memorable. If anything, The Artist just made it clear why silent films just do not resonate even a fraction as much as non-silent films. This film is a gimmick, and while it's not a necessarily poorly executed one, it is still bland and ridiculously boring. The very last scene saved the film from being a disaster. It still boggles my mind how this even won all those awards. D
  5. Wow, atrocious from Italy and incredible for Russia. Expect a BIG BIG total for John Carter in Russia.
  6. I thought it worked perfectly (as do the vast majority).
  7. The majority of the film's success is because of Radcliffe.
  8. I kind of wish DH2 had been released in 2012 just to see its China gross. LOL
  9. Surprising. You should also realize that Twilight was able to do $200m. Hunger Games has way more appeal overseas, especially in Asian countries like Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, etc. This is being released in China, no? Then that should do over $40m on there alone. Now, the scary thing is that if the Chinese people do pick up on its themes and relate to it, it will be gargantuan. $175m, again, does not make much sense. And you wanna know why? Because you, CJohn, are simply predicting out of your ass instead of studying what specific countries enjoy more. It will do $50m-$60m in the UK and Australia alone.
  10. Will be huge overseas, bank on it.It'll do really big business in UK, Australia, China, Japan, and other Asian countries. I'm not sure about Europe, but it'll do respectable business at the very least. $315m.
  11. Tangled failed to become the success everybody hoped for? It blew away the vast majority of peoples' expectations.
  12. I was appalled when the Tree of Life lost the cinematography award. Such a massive shame it broke my heart.
  13. Saw this a few weeks ago for the first time in years and it is unequivocally the worst film in the series by far. It definitely has its good moments (particularly the basilisk and the whole Tom Marvolo Riddle memory), but it's otherwise utterly mediocre and basically feels like a film that simply reenacted scenes from the book word for word without ever trying to have its own identity. Plus, the "there's no Hogwarts without you, Hagrid." was so cringe-worthy it's appalling. Colombus basically forced Kloves to write that. C
  14. Quite possibly the most ambitious film I've ever seen. I was not the biggest fan when I first saw it, but repeat viewings have only made me love it so much more. This is the most visually magnificent film I've ever laid my eyes on. Emmanuel Lubezki's must be a god among cinematographers, as each and every single shot of the film is so extraordinarily beautiful, and evoke such powerful emotion. The montage of the universe's creation is so awe-inspiring, one can only marvel at Terrence Malick's genius at understanding the science behind it. The story of the three brothers growing up is so intimately crafted, so honestly made, you cannot help but deeply feel for at least one of them. The performances of Jessica Chastain and Brad Pitt were both equally great and a delight to watch. The Tree of Life is, without a doubt in my mind, the best film to truly capture the meaning and essence of life. This was the film that should have won Best Picture and Best Director. A
  15. Yeah, since when he was a womanizer? Even in physicality, he's not good looking.
  16. Physically gorgeous? How? He is an incredibly plain looking man.
  17. You probably are. How did DH2's $290m and $650m overseas gross work for you?
