MovieMan89
My all time fav comedy is anchorman Very tempting to say it's mine too. Although if I'm going the more "purist" route I do admittedly love Dr. Strangelove. The humor gets better and better every time I see it and I love how subtle yet hilarious it often is in that movie. Jandrew
Dont understand why people are so shocked with MU. Its 2 movies in the same genre, vying for the same audience. And MU likely affected DM2 as well. It'll still have a huge gross regardless, but this shouldve been expected, especially coming out 12 days apart.
MovieMan89
havent seen either will watch today They're polar opposite comedies though. Anchorman is just pure stupid hilarious, and Dr. Strangelove is dark and subtle comedy that you probably won't completely "get" until repeat viewings.
Letsuseournoggin
Favorite comedy - Superbad and Hangover (people will try to dilute how great TH was because of the crap sequels, but the first was just off the charts). I suspect I'll be adding This is the End with time as that movie settles in and joins the ranks of all time greats. I actually never understood why Bridesmaid was so hilarious to the rest of the world. I didn't find myself laughing as much as I had hoped. druv10
This. MU pretty much got destroyed by DM2. Prior to it, it was going VERY strong and then just got obliterated on Wed. Thurs, it was one of the movies that dropped, although that may have more to do with it being an animated flick than DM2. At this point, MU fans can only hope that it stabilizes and continues to have similar or better drops prior to DM2's release, but with much smaller numbers. Damn it, I was really hoping for 300m for this one. I love the Monsters characters. Not a fan of the DM world, although the minions are pretty damn funny and cute, but Gru and company just don't do it for me at all. 300M isn't dead yet. In 2002, kids movies had high 50's to low 90's jump on Friday so it's still looking at 24M+ for the weekend.

zackzack
hate that MU number, it going to fall 53% to $21,5, DM2 affect it much more than i expected, it will make $270 (Turbo will also affect it, too bad the release date it get, it could have made $300 for sure in other time). DM2 numbers os veryyyy good $88 OW / $145 5 day Opening and $370 total for sure, maybe $400 and winning the whole year! The dates are very competitive but Pixar always sits on that June 20th slot for years since....who knows when. The rest of the studios are like: "Bring it on!!" Krissykins
Mean Girls is my favourite comedy film of all time. Funny each time, so quoteable, so memorable. I love Jawbreaker and Bridesmaids too. Female driven comedy is funnier to me. Same with stand up comedians. I always thought Rachel, Monica and Phoebe were much funnier than the boys in Friends. I only laughed once during The Hangover. Different strokes for different folks.
