My hatred for Gale has nothing to do with what you all are mentioning. I never liked him at all. THG book was unfair to judge him since he doesn't get much time in it, but in CF he was miserable. Just a big miserable, brooding pile of angst junk that just pouts and wines when Katniss (god forbid) doesn't do what he says or doesn't return her feelings. What happens later on, obviously just feeds the flames of hatred I have for him.

It's not obvious at all that he'd be okay with them killing a bunch of kids, including Katniss's sister. Some Capitol adults, sure. But kids? IIII dunno.

As the book progressed Gale became more had more heartless for the cause, just like Coin, the only thing that woke him up was the death of his best friends sister caused by his weapon.
