The Intouchables is on Netflix now. Can finally see why it was so successful.

Yup. Witness how the GA always inevitably falls for bland stupid shit.

sigh

I dunno. I actually liked-ish Hustle. SLP was just blurgh.... I want to barf.

Inherent Vice is a PTA movie... pretty sure it'll have low commercial appeal :P

Le Sigh. He deserves more appeal.

I'm so jealous. GAHHH I need to see them both

Go see ILD. Her is kinda mediocre/good. (Well it isn't bad, but it isn't great.) The concept is actually kinda offputting and I dunno. It was too long and felt kinda boring and detached.

Rewatched Frozen... still don't get it. It is not a bad movie, but I just don't get the miraculous word of mouth it got. I guess the movie just wasn't for me.

Also watched "About Time", kept waiting for a time travel twist to come, it did have one but it is undone just as quickly. The movie plays more like "Let's watch this guys life... oh and he is also a time traveller, but this fact won't be that important"

WOW at LS! Good for Frozen and Banks! Osage did well especially for under 1K screens. Her was too wide, too soon. They should have waited after Oscar nods to expand it to more theaters

Maybe Joaquin Phoenix is a bit of a turn-off to moviegoers.

Either that or audiences just would not buy the premise of someone falling in love with a computer.

I like Joaquin but I wouldn't be surprised if the GA thinks he is still a weirdo. The documentary he made little buzz at all especially compared to the noise the weirdness of the Letterman interview created. I won't be surprised if people still see him as that guy and won't be enticed to watch a movie of him

I really think Her will do much better than this weekend indicates. Given that there's still some doubt over whether it'll be nominated at all this might actually have been the best week to expand it; this way word-of-mouth is kicking in before the prestige pics can drown out the buzz. And if it does get nominated, it's just all the more publicity.

Saw August and it was OK, not bad as I thought after reading stuff here but it's not really memorable. Julia is the MVP for me though, she's really good here. Streep is compelling as always but not really a fan of her work here, she was so much better in Hope Springs, wish that one had Oscar buzz last year, I consider that her best performance in years
