I guess not. It could get Production Design but I think AH is gonna get that one as well as Costumes.

I think costumes is locked up for Gatsby. Only period pieces really win there and considering that the average academy age is in like the 70s, AH (1970s costumes) isn't nearly dated enough to be considered period. Plus Gatsby is not only Period but also has the most and most lavish costumes. That's the movie that wins. This is essentially a most number of period costumes award. Ex. Les Miserables and The Young Victoria.

I didn't really see anything beyond generic 1970s sets for American Hustle. I'm surprised it even got nominated.

the production design and costumes of hustle are easily one of the best aspects. the best of the costume nominees and second best behind her on the production design side. though i'm expecting the "more is more" rule that usually effects these categories to ensure gatsby wins both.

I actually really did like the Costumes of Hustle. I just wasn't blown away by the art direction.

Is everyone going to prepare themselves for the meltdowns if Gravity and 12YAS cancel each other out and AH slides in there?

Preferential probably prevents this from happening. Though for OS we could see Nebraska sneak in cus Her and AH could split the votes.

Another Brutally Honest Ballot... with more lulz.

VFX: I voted for Gravity because the whole movie is a special effect, so I thought this was a pretty easy one. The only special effect of Lone Ranger was how they made $250 million disappear.
