Just for those to don't know, or might care, her usual stunt double is Heidi Moneymaker (yes, real name), and her much taller sister Renae, is Jennifer Lawrence's stunt double. Former gymnasts and top notch doubles. I think ScarJo was stung by the criticisms that she didn't do her own stunts, she claims she did a lot of it in GITS.

I think she's fit enough, it's just that she's never leaned out.  Jennifer Connelly looked like a taller version of her when she was younger, but she really got super lean over the last few years.  That lead to the stories she had breast reduction surgery, but I think she just got super skinny.

I crack up at how JLaw makes no bones about not doing her own stunts, just says no way let the pro do it.

Yeah, I don't think there's any shame in that myself.

I respect JLaw for that greatly and she blends with her stunt double much better than SJ. It really unfair when stars take credit for something a) they didn't do and B) we all know they can't do. Your job is to act and pros will do their part. Acting's what sells the character anyway. Arnie's stuntman is super obvious in terminator but that doesn't take you out of the movie cause Arnie's physique and line delivery sell the character. The rest is a gravy.

The problem with poor Scarlett is that she hit her peak young, She was in North, Home Alone 3 and Eight Legged Freaks. Since then, she's been desperately trying to relive those glory days but none of her projects have been anywhere near as good and it appears to be having an effect on her.

I actually think she's done some good work, especially in Lost in Translation, and some of her supporting work has been really good. What I don't like is all her recent movies are variations on a theme. Action movies are what she seems to be getting since Black Widow, Lucy, and it's eventual sequel, and GITS.

Clearly Disney has no faith in her since they won't give BW a solo movie, they skipped right over her and went to Captain Marvel with Brie Larson. I'm not sure if she was being serious or not, but she said she's been campaigning to be a Disney princess for years now and they won't give her the time of day. Not exactly a ringing endorsement.  I think that's why she's trying to get that Zelda movie off the ground, trying to break out.

The problem Scarlett is always going to have is her T&A is always going to upstage her acting. She needs to Charlize Theron Monster herself in a movie. She tried to get Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Fincher said she looked like "Marilyn(Monroe) on a motorcycle".

I wouldn't say Disney doesn't have faith in Scarjo.

Remember what they did in Winter Soldier where she was co-lead.

My reasoning why Black Widow didn't have its own movie is power level, the character doesn't really have superpowers that are visually exciting.

Really curious how GA is gonna respond to this since it is somewhat an unknown property.

Do we know the budget for this ?

Not yet probably.

She's already broken out though.

Also, I fell in love with her watching Lost in Translation years and years ago and oddly enough I fell in love with her again watching Her. I really, really like her voice.

I disagree that she's only doing variation of the same. Those her most visible movies but she's done really diverse work in between those action gigs. They just weren't meant to be hits so they flew under the radar - Under the Skin (indie), Hail Caesar (Cohens), Don Jon (JGL's directorial debut), and bunch of other stuff including voice work as Kaa in JB.

I also don't think that MCU didn't make a BW movie cause of lack of trust but because BW's most interesting time is before SHIELD and actors don't get younger. But didn't someone hint that it could happen beyond 2019? Anyway, they don't just have Captain Marvel but also Antman and WASP who may get her own movie moving forward.

She did get a a lot of co-lead work in that movie, and I thought she was pretty good too. So that's a fair point.  Let's just say they don't think she can carry a movie as the pure lead.

People forget that Woody Allen tried for years to make Scarlett into something, and it just didn't work all that well.

That is assuming that she wanted to do one on acceptable Marvel condition (price, script/director/director cut wise), those stuff can stall because an actor do not want to sign before reading a script, studio do not want to pay millions to develop one if they are not sure the actor will do it and the movie make no sense without the said actor (a bit like Damon and Bourne 4 that got stuck for a long time), she probably want to sign a movie at a time too, and they don't, etc... As long as she can get paid a fortune to do stuff like GITS, why an actor would want to replay a caracther they already made so many time ? Ok to have fun as a side character, but a lead role on a giant movie is a huge time commitment during what is maybe the prime of her career, she could simply be asking a lot creatively/contractually speaking that could raise every non-RDJ condition if they accept, more than Disney not wanting to make a BW solo movie.

As for T&A being an issue, like Charlize Theron said it is not easy when you look like that, it cut you of a lot of roles (but that must be true too when you do not have a spectacular look too), she is at a special level of beauty for sure, that make it hard to play someone that is not specially good looking in the story with the rest of the world acting accordingly.

I think we're talking two different things. When I say break out I mean she needs a Monster, or something like that, to break out of the box they've put her in. She's very popular when she does her action shtick, but when she treads into dramatic territory it just doesn't seem to work for her. For reasons I can't put my finger on the industry just isn't that impressed with her outside the action arena, and neither is the public as none of those movies you mentioned sold many tickets.

Also, sorry for sending some folks over the edge on the Zelda movie.  Yes, Zelda Fitzgerald was F. Scott Fitzgeralds wife. However, you'll be interested to know that the creator of Zelda named the character after Zelda Fitzgerald. So there's actually a connection between the two, if you can believe it.

You've also answered the question as to why Jennifer Connelly got so thin. She was trying to stop being upstaged by her own body, and it actually worked, she started getting a lot of great dramatic work when she stopped looking like a centerfold.  In the end, I don't think Scarlett cares, she's making lots of money and she's a star. She'd rather eat and look amazing.

I've seen that factoid a few times. And I got super excited for a bit
