CoolioD1
But more importantly than these film awards, Breaking Bad should win the TV ensemble award. The whole main cast was just too fucking good this season.
CloneWars
My take: This is an odd year for movies. Critics are liking The Artist a lot, but no one really knows what film to root for. These SAG noms prove it. I think that actually things might turn around by the time the Oscars come. Also, I think all the love The Artist is getting might backfire. That happened with Up in the Air and The Social Network recently. So, you never know. I don't know if that would mean The Descendants can sneak in the win, or if another film comes out of nowhere and wins BP.Anyway, I just think this might be an odd year for Oscars and harder to predict than some of us may think. Impact
Of course it is a odd year, the year is 2011, which is a odd number
baumer
Wouldn't it be great if McCarthy won best supporting actress? And I'm thrilled to see DiCaprio on there and pissed to see Clooney on there. I don't get the Descendants love. Good movie, good performances, but the best of the year? Puh-lease.
CoolioD1
If they wanted to give a really good comedic performance in Best Supporting Actress they should've gone with ROSE BYRNE in Bridesmaids or JENNIFER ANISTON in Horrible Bosses. I just found McCarthy weird and creepy and not funny at all, much like Alan in The Hangover movies.
Dementeleus
I'm not surprised at WAR HORSE's lack of noms. Despite a large cast, none of them is front and center at all, and many have little screen time. It will pick up support from the Academy at large and a slew of tech noms, along with either a BP or BD nom (or both).

ladyevenstar22
i'm so happy for jean dujardin and his film "the artist" something that makes me feel all patriotic which rarely happens...i've seen this guy on french tv from his beginnings to turning in great performances as an actor once he left television for moviesother than that i'm keeping my cool about brad pitt noms and chances , don't want to get too excited yet....please let it be his year! fishstick
Where is Fishnets? Can't wait for her reaction.Work and than straight to the pool. So now I`m back.Lol @ awards trainwreck that is Maramania so far. I mean, Jonah Fuckin Hill got in and Girl Power Icon didn`t? Lmao! And don`t get me even started on Melissamania. Looks like someone`s spotlight has been seriously taken by underdogs. But on a less sarky note, why the fuck is Sony screwing up Maramania by campaigning Shitface Craig? Who the fuck would vote for him for this movie which is all about the leading lady? Maramania is GWTDT`s best chance at a nom and she is in fact critically raved. Now, I can imagine that SAG who didn`t bother to nominate rapace, didn`t bother to nominate Maramania for the exactly same role in the exactly the same movie. But Sony`s just screwing her over regardless. Oh, well, she has 2 more movies to go. :PNot awfully worried about Fass snub because SAG tends to snub NC-17 movies and perfs and yet actors pop up at the Oscars (Michelle last year). However, people should lay the fuck off Leo. He is critically raved for his performance so it isn`t like he`s stealing someone`s spot. Hate the movie and its nomination if it happens but he pulled off a role everyone thought he would be wrong for. J Edgar sucked because of the script, not because of Leo and it`s harder to be greta in a shit than in a great movie. Also, why the fuck people think that any role where actors are naked and have graphic sex are brave? Hello, by that logic adult movie stars are the rbavest ever and should win eevry year. No wonder actors don`t nominate NC-17 shit cause it looks like porn to them and they wanted to escape that fame (although majority has it in their secret resume, just ask Leo and Tobey).Anywya, I`m worried about GGs because they always nominate some retards who look good on the red carpet. I`m sensing the short-lived rise of The Jaw. Edited December 15, 2011 by fishnets

Most A-listers have it written into their contracts that they'll get pushed for awards, especially if the film is remotely seen as being a contender. Not surprising that Sony would push Craig as well as Mara.
fishstick
BTW,meltdown over SAG shockers is hilarious. The hyperbolic "They are totally out of touch with the rest of the world" can be heard all over the blogspots. LMAO, what rest of the world? The one that saw Drive and thinks it`s piece of shit because it was advertised as Fast Five Too but wasn`t? The one that hasn`t seen atrhouse stuff like Shame, Take Shelter and other movies that play only in 3 cinemas in big cities and never will see them and therefore don`t give a crap that some actors whose name they don`t even know got snubbed? That`s the rest of the world for you. Not bloggers and movie buffs who are such micro minority but act as if everyone is in agreement with them. People don`t give a shit because they have no clue who bloggers are pimping. Edited December 15, 2011 by fishnets

Gopher
I liked Bridesmaids a lot, but McCarthy getting Supporting Actress nods makes about as much sense as Zach Galifianakis getting Oscar attention for The Hangover. Wiig gave a nearly awards-worthy performance, McCarthy was just funny and silly. These nods are very disappointing. The Artist is winning Best Picture. I haven't seen it, I will see it, yet I don't even have the desire to. When are bodies of voters ever going to give original opinions as to what they like the best?
stripe
Yep, they liked Help and Bridesmaids which nobody in the real world lik...oh wait There's a lot of difference between like a film and to be awards worthy material. All this Bridesmaids push is painful, IMO. And not because I didn't like it. It's because it's an standard comedy not better than many other genre films with bigger success and/or cultural relevance. There's something about Mary, Hangover, 40 year old virgin, Meet the parents, Analize this...And if they wanted to focus on comedic fims, this year they had Crazy Stupid Love which is hands down a better film

CoolioD1
From Albert Brooks's Twitter - Just got back from the mall. Told Santa what I wanted. He said he didn't even know what SAG was, let alone how to punish it.
