ddddeeee
It's been a brilliant year. Maleficent, Godzilla, HTTYD2, The Unknown Known, Monuments Men and The Grand Budapest Hotel are all wonderful.
Jack Nevada
Yeah, HTTYD2 had a good score. Maleficent was pretty standard. Loved the original songs in Muppets Most Wanted and Begin Again.
Jake Gittes
Only Lovers Left Alive is the only one that has stood out to me so far. I haven't seen Under the Skin though.
ddddeeee
Maleficent is comfortably my favorite score of the year and JNH's best in years. The choral material is superlative, the brass writing is incredibly intricate (I have no idea how the players even survived 'Maleficent is Captured' and it boasts the best themes of the year. 0:32 - 1:00 is complete heaven. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRK6UxynrWU
Hilderic
I love the Maleficent score and think it's the best among this year's blockbusters. Maleficent theme (especially towards the end) is amazing.

ddddeeee
The score was kind of a letdown overall but Doyle really let loose in this cue. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wt8uoZn0PoU
Rorschach
I read somewhere that a great film composer (one who did most of Frank Capra's films) once said that a composer has done his job when the people come out remembering the film more than the score and that no composer has done their job right when somebody remembers the soundtrack better than the story itself. I'm looking at you TASM2.
Jack Nevada
The movie kinda sucks but I dug the DOTPOTA score. Dem xylophones.

The score isn't Giacchino's best work but I liked it. A lot more atmospheric and earthy than most of his efforts.
ddddeeee
I like the end credits (on album as opposed to film)

The best prequel score by a longshot. I hope Williams is as energized for Ep VII as he was for that.

Attack of the Clones suffers outside of the love theme because of how damn over-extended Williams was through 2002. He C&P'd so much music from Phantom Menace into the third act of Clones, and then he randomly inserts Attack of the Clones music into pieces of Chamber of Secrets.

The only scene Williams didn't have time to score was the very last IIRC. Williams wrote a lot of music that was rejected in favor of TPM music. Across the Stars is still the best single track of the prequels though.

Duel of the Fates is one of my favorite piece of score of all -time. I really hope he brings that type of energy to episode VII.
