The UK is massive o_o
Hernan Gonzalez
400 OS locked, right? I don't think even $350m OS are locked. If it fell 60% next weekend it would do less than $30m and it could fall even harder than 60%. There are not many desperate women left and WOM is pretty bad
Noctis
400 OS locked, right? Nope. Can't see it touching $400m. I'm guessing $370m.

Maybe you are right but I think the only market left is South Korea and I don't think it will do good there. But I am surprised it has beaten American Sniper this weekend here in Spain

IndustriousAngel
In Germany and Austria, this had a better 2nd weekend drop than the Twilight movies, so expect an overall better multiplier than those.
xSabrinax
It's a stupid comment. I'm absolutely not interested in 50 Shades in itself, only its BO, but Japan also has weird or crappy movies which would bomb abroad and still we don't think we're superior..They're not interested in this movie for cultural reasons, they just can't understand it because it's very far from what Japan is in terms of love relationships and sex, they didn't say 'OMG it's crappy I won't watch that", no it's just a cultural deterrent. Just to help you remembering : Japan was allowing the possession of child porn contents until a few years ago (under the US pressure they had to stop this), and most of Japanese fans of J-Pop idols such as the band AKB (most of these girls are under 20) are mostly men older than 40. I like Japan but stop idealizing it like this in terms of taste, they're not superior or don't have better tastes, they're just different and also have their flaws and crappy products like anywhere else, you just don't see that.

Chriss
Europe is old-fashioned in sex so women are excited about this [crap] movie and as we can see Asia has more eventful sexual life xD That's a horrible generalization. Europe is not at all old-fashioned in sex. France gave this movie a 12+ rating. In the Netherlands we are allowed to show breasts on TV (don't know this for other countries). While eastern-europe indeed is rather old-fashioned; western europe is way more modern than the USA in therms of openness about sex.
Mockingjay Raphael
Fifty Shades Of Grey‘s grasp on international audiences remains tight with the erotic love story coming in No. 1 for the 3rd consecutive weekend, per Universal and industry estimates. Adding $36M in 59 territorires, the bondage bonanza dropped about 43% and now has a total of $338.4M in offshore play. That takes it past the overseas lifetime of Universal’s highest-grossing original R-rated comedy, Ted, which topped out at $332.4M. It also makes it the studio’s biggest R-rated film of all time internationally. In notable holdovers, Fifty Shades tied up the No. 1 slot for the 3rd frame in a row in Germany ($33.7M cume) and Spain ($19.2M). The top foreign market remains the UK at $46.9M. http://deadline.com/2015/03/fifty-shades-of-grey-biggest-r-rated-universal-ever-international-box-office-weekend-nears-500-million-global-1201383876/
