Its looking like the winner will be in the bottom half of the group unless there is a big hold next week in both OD and DOM

 

With last Friday being a holiday and Saturday not looking good in some markets OS is looking to be down 60%+ as well as DOM

Its shaping up for the winner to be very near the bottom of the list for OS-C as the current markets are looking to come in at the high 6's plus maybe 40m from Japan. With DOM getting wacked too TA2 has gone from front runner for 3rd all time to taking 5th as 1.5B is looking doubtful unless china does something extraordinary.

 

I think FF7 takes the year. I don't think SW7 is ready to do 60%+ OS just yet

Just as I thought its having a huge drop considering last weekend had a holiday in most markets. Plus part of wed/thu grosses are reported as part of weekend for markets having 4/5 day weekends. I would say its headed for 715m minus C+J.

I think 700M OS-CJ would be hard to achieve, need 3x multiplier from this weekend

That does not seem so good. Can it make it to 700M from the current markets? If China "only" makes 200M it might not even touch DH2's 961m OS (700+200+Japan - TA made 45M there, IM3 made 25; I assume this can make a bit more than TA, so around 50M... idk).

It will drop in Japan, because dollar is 50% stronger than 2012

?With only 200M from China it would finish with around 1.4B WW, FF7 is already way past that. It needs close to 300M from China.

Furious 7's run in China is (finally) ending tomorrow and Japan's Golden Week is over so we can hope that its earnings will drop significantly from now on, preventing it from exceeding $1.150B overseas.

this weekend furious 7 was hit hard bcos last weekend was a holiday weekend. its still playing in all big markets plus few leggy markets in LA. I am sure its making 1.15B OS. China will add couple of million tomorrow and it needs < 20m to reach there. Will do that over next month. But I doubt its beating Avengers 1 WW.

 

But barring AOU having crazy legs in China, Furious 7 will win not just OS but also WW. That would be absolutely crazy. I all along thought Avengers will win the year WW. Now furious 7 is going to win the year. I am among those who do not believe SW brand is strong enough in expanding markets to compete with furious 7 or Avengers.

It needs to fall less than 45% from now on to reach that number. Falling 50% from now on AoU will end at $683m OS minus China and Japan

This weekend was horrible bcos its coming of a holiday weekend. Next weekend will be good. leggy markets tend to hold better startng 3rd weekend. Pitch Perfect will impact in few markets but Avengers will have open run until Jurassic World opens in 4 weeks. So 45% average drops should happen.
