Avatree
I'm pretty certain CGI Walker will be a big draw. I'm not kidding. Not really. The only people who really cared about Paul Walker knew him from Fast and Furious - and I have a feeling Fast and Furious fans might be watching F7 either way People try to compare him to Heath Ledger but it's just not the same, Ledger was a diverse actor who was in the public spotlight. Plus, Ledger only died a few months before TDK, whereas Walker died 1.5 years before Furious 7.
AniNate
Here's what went wrong: The film was split into two parts and the first part consists mostly of people dying or cowering in fear with very little sense of forward movement. It's not a particularly exciting movie and I can certainly imagine why fans may not have shown up the way they did before. It's the same thing that happened with DH1, though imo that was far more successful in its execution.

DAJK
@giteshpandya 8s8 seconds ago $152M intl opening wknd for #Mockingjay for colossal global debut of $275M. Most major intl mkts bigger than CatchingFire. Gigantic number! Wow! I think with an OS increase, this can come close to CF WW.

True but Walker was much liked by the younger demo's and people who normally would not be on the internet talkinga bout films.
La Binoche
@BoxOffice 3m3 minutes ago FOXCATCHER took in an estimated $474,339 from 24 locations. Domestic total stands at $0.82m. #Foxcatcher Let's go Foxcatcher! Sadly it's too cold and unsettling to click with a wide audience. miketheavenger
Ouch at that D&DT drop. I guess that mediocre WOM set in. Obviously disappointing opening for MJ1, still a huge number. Also overseas looks to make up for the domestic drop. BH6 once again with a pretty good hold and IS falling less than 50 percent should also be considered a win. Lordmandeep
Overseas markets will save MJ1 as they saved TF4, Apes 2 and DOFP.

kayumanggi
Many threequels have opened above parts 1&2: IronMan3, DarkKnightRises, Spidey3, Shrek3, XMen3, LOTR3, Potter3, Bourne3, etc. — Gitesh Pandya (@giteshpandya) November 23, 2014

Clef Ment
123 * 2,68 (HG and CF multiplier) = 329. And the movie will probably have weaker legs because of its worse reception / wom. So GotG might stay #1 DOM. Edited November 23, 2014 by Clef Ment
Wormow
Has the OS numbers kind of reach its peak for this franchise or do you guys think there's still room to grow for potentially 1B for Part 2?
