Heroes went downhill starting with the season 1 finale, and when they refused to kill of Sylar in that episode. That just led to every new character servicing Sylar's character arc, Kristen Bell's character suffered greatly due to that.

56-58 are all pretty class though, so I'm soothed a bit.

All the people who say season 1 of heroes was great... no. Maybe 1/3 of the episodes were great. that show was a mess from day 1. but it was a somewhat enjoyable one turned to a shitshow.

Well I guess it's a decently accurate portrayal of the community. A bunch of batshit craziness with fleeting glimmers of sanity.

To be honest, when I made my list, I just ignored the bad seasons of many shows and focused on the good seasons and rated them accordingly from that.  Shows like Heroes, Dexter, X-Files, Alias and others benefited from that distinction.

I was fine with Sylar surviving Season 1. The problem was that ultimately every season ended up having Sylar shoehorn his way into being a major villain until suddenly he does a gigantic massive heel-face turn in the latter portion of Season 5.

 

But as I've mentioned before, I pretend Heroes ended after this scene:
