grim22
http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=58776 In a move sure to shake up the superhero TV landscape, executives from Fox have confirmed that they're exploring an "X-Men" TV show. TV Insider has the scoop, quoting chairmen Gary Newman and Dana Walden on their plans for a mutant-based show. "It's in negotiations," Newman said. "We're cautiously optimistic, we had a good meeting with them. That will not be on a fast track creatively. This is just the deal, now we have to find the creative." As the deal is being worked out with the 20th Century Fox movie studio who owns the rights to the Marvel characters, there is no specific talent attached to the series, and it's unlikely that a show would be ready before the 2016 - 2017 season. Chewy
Marvel would have to sign off on this for it to happen, which seems super unlikely http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/x-men-live-action-series-767143
kitik
Marvel would have to sign off on this for it to happen, which seems super unlikely That's why they invented the word "deal". We'll see if Marvel asks to be able to use Galactus and Silver Surfer again. The fact that they've already got writers would seem to indicate that Fox is at least hopeful that they'll be able to bargain with Marvel. The47th
Yeah, the fact that they have ordered a script probably means that it's very likely that Marvel would sign for this. Why do they need their approval, by the way? Does Fox's deal only involve film adaptations? I'm very excited for this. Fox is really investing a lot in the franchise, and I'm curious by what setting will they choose for this story. 2016 could really be the year of X-Men. Two spin offs, a main entry, and now a TV show. Edited January 26, 2015 by The47th
BK007
Maybe Marvel will tell them, after Apocalypse, no more feature films. Then you can make your TV series. I would be up for that.
Cedarpoint1111
They can't tell them no more films... Fox owns the rights and until they stop making movies, marvel can't do shit.
druv10
They can't tell them no more films... Fox owns the rights and until they stop making movies, marvel can't do shit. They can stop FOX from releasing the TV show so they can definitely do shit.
The47th
Nowadays X-Men is a strong, healthy franchise for Fox, even if it's not comparable to the MCU in terms of box office gross. Both Marvel and Fox have assets that interest each other (characters and stuff), so I'm certain they will find a way to make a deal. It's not a Spider-Man scenario, where Sony had nothing on their own and a deal with Marvel was almost essential for the subsistence of Sony's plans. Orestes
Wonder what Marvel would want before they signed off on this. They should make another push for Galactus and Silver Surfer at the very least.
Spidey Freak
The X-Men lend themselves beautifully to a tv show format, so why not?
Talkie
It's hilarious that Fox has to come crawling to Marvel, begging for a TV deal, after going to such great lengths to antagonize Feige & Co. just two years ago. Even adding Quicksilver to DOFP, complete with taunting tweets, after Whedon announced that he was using the Twins, was a direct slap in the face to Marvel. Murdoch's minions will doubtless have to be willing to share Galactus & the Silver Surfer to even have the hope for a TV deal. Even then, I would bet against any deal being made. Marvel has proven its ability to prosper without its prodigal properties, and they may decide that less is more when it comes to TV competition. Fox may rue the day it decided to sue Marvel over a TV show those many years ago.
Spidey Freak
I actually think an X-Men television show by Fox would be pretty excellent, especially if focused on the younger mutants studying at Xavier's. Buffy meets Freaks and Geeks with a touch of Glee.
Heat Vision
If this happens I hope it doesn't revolve around Wolverine.

The47th
An announcement could come very soon: Fox Near Deal for 'X-Men' Live-Action Series Fox is inching closer to a live-action X-Men series. "[For] X-Men, we're in negotiations with Marvel. We're hopeful we'll be able to announce something soon. We're not closed on a deal yet but it's something we're definitely pursuing," Fox Television Group chairman and CEO Dana Walden told THR on Thursday at the Television Critics Association's summer press tour stop. As THR previously reported, Fox's potential live-action series is being penned by Star Trek 3 writing duo Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne; they will share a "created by" credit with 24's Evan Katz and Manny Coto, who also will serve as showrunners.
