Accursed Arachnid!™
THE DIVERGENT SERIES: INSURGENT earned $0.98M on Wednesday. Domestic total now stands at $107.0M. The title alone indicates just how lacking in confidence the studio was in this. I understand the need to keep people aware of what franchise this is(as they did with Twilight), but have some confidence in your product(and your target audience!) to just use the book title. Especially since the titles are all alliterative. That feature is completely ruined by the absoloutely unweildy "The Divergent Series" on top of it. What is with Hollywood and their current insecurity with movie titles? You know, I remember a time when the original Star Wars trilogy was simply Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Now they are Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, etc. Ugh. /rant Edited April 9, 2015 by Accursed Arachnid!™

miketheavenger
A 30% drop might seem steep, but considering what monstrous numbers this movie has been putting up so far, it's fine. Still on track for a huge second weekend.

Jake Gittes
I was bitching about this the other day too. If not for the fact that it's a 50 year old formula we'd be getting The James Bond Saga: Spectre at the end of the year. Here it's already "007: Skyfall" and "007: Spectre". Could be worse, I guess, but it still feels pretty patronising.
kitik
Funny to see those almost final numbers for Night At the Museum, Imitation Game, Jupiter Ascending, and Chappie down there at the bottom of the list. JA and Chappie added up together didn't even come close to making as much as Imitation Game, let alone the even bigger NATM. Funny to also look at the numbers for 50 Shades and Kingsman. FSOG opened sooooo much bigger, but now it's making a mere one-fifth of what Kingsman is making daily.

Or even worse "The James Bond Series Episode XXIV: Spectre" Then on the video the tagline is the title. Captain Craig
This is a weekend film with a group of buddies. No big issue on this drop. It'll still do very well. I wouldn't be shocked for a sub 62% drop at all.
The Panda
And I guess Fourious suffered from the Hannah Montana movie opening the following weekend, no? I don't entirely buy it. It impacts the drop for sure. But, we shall see. Again, I'm expecting a $55.2M second weekend but a steeper decline wouldn't surprise me in the least. Couldn't you argue that Furious 7 had a hugely inflated Friday due to Good Friday and a somewhat inflated Sunday as well due to many still off the following Monday? Fast 4 wasn't as well liked as Fast 5 and Fast 6, it's evident with how weak the legs were compared to those.
CoolioD1
the one that bothers me for no reason is that in the UK fast five and furious 7 have to be called Fast and Furious 5 and Fast and Furious 7, in case I'd be like "what's the entire cast of the fast and furious movies doing in this fast and furious rip-off that has 50% of the title of those films? next!"

Kingsman had incredible staying power. Good to see that these days.
