The 4 Pirates movies have cost over $1b easily, 1 BILLION.

Pretty sure the three original Spider-man films cost over 700.

According to kowhite, the 3 sequels themselves cost more than 1B. And the 5th movie has already run up almost 300M+ according to documents filed in Australia.

The original SPEED only cost 30m. It was the sequel that got expensive.

I remember when I read the budget for Last Crusade as being something like 50 million, and it shocked me.  LOL, now that's a micro budget film.

I will probably stay around here until 4 AM. I need some solid Saturday numbers in my veins.

There is a really easy joke to be made here, but since record breaking weekends don't come around often, I will let this slide.

But 3 times more expensive, and without the hero from the first movie. Wonder what the studio was thinking.

Remember back when Universal spent $175 million+ on Evan Almighty, a sequel to a Jim Carrey movie without Jim Carrey in it?

How in the hell did that cost $110 million?

It was set on a cruise ship. Filming on water almost always ends up being more expensive than studios like.

Hilary Duff is on some cable sitcom now. Younger? Anyway, I don't think motherhood had anything to do with her career going downhill, she was already the "old hat" one compared to Lohan back in 2004 (and her kid is just 2-3). She's divorced and did go on Tinder recently. And Shia managed to blow it after Spielberg annointed him as the next big thing... I do think men in Hollywood have more leeway to behave badly, but there's still a leash and plenty of male stars have squandered their chances to be A-list due to their crappy attitudes/unprofessionalism.

Fox didn't care, at least at first, they thought it was going to be a hit, since the first one was so well-received and did so well. Speed 2 even opened with good numbers, it crashed and burned on it's second weekend though, for obvious reasons.

So 1.5 BILLION then roughly my bad, Disney prints $$$ so no biggie there.

Well, the first four Pirates movies have made 3.7 billion dollars.  I think they got their money back.

Went to my theater to get tix early...wow. Packed to capacity. That's no hyperbole, there's no room in the parking lot. They also had a sign on the box office in BIG BOLD LETTERS saying that they're not refunding tix and to be sure you find a good JW and to get their early.

This basically solidifies what I've been saying all day. I think spillover is going to be real. My theater is a 14 screen, and they only have JW playing on 4, and only 2 2D. So there's 14 screens total and only 2 are playing the highest grossing format. I don't think they prepared for this, and I feel that's how it is with many theaters across the country, especially when I looked on Fandango.

They had to put that sign on the BO because people are coming in groups of 6 and cant find seats together then want a refund so they can come back. With TA2, theaters knew what to expect and made showtimes accordingly, but obviously not here. I think a good bit of business intended for last night is coming today, and alot of people will be turned away today and be forced to go back tomorrow. It's insane. There's just not enough showtimes. Amazing weekend ahead.
