BadAtGender
Yeah. Congrats to @grey ghost for taking the victory. Also good job to everyone who did not, like me, figure out a way to make things worse by filling in the pre-season. Thanks to @chasmmi (and @JJ-8) for doing all the hard work putting this together. It's great fun, even if some of the SOTM choices were... questionable. I'm looking forward to what you guys have cooked up for the BSG this year. Also, a thanks to @Telemachos for being a good sport about our "rivalry". After the 1k point separation we had in the BSG, I really felt like it was worth playing up. The fact that we again finished within a spot of each-other makes it all worth it. I look forward to a third matchup in the summer. As for myself, it's clear I've got some work to do. Last year's BSG proved I could do good preseasons. This winter showed I can do good on the weeklies. I just need to put it all together. We'll see if that happens. And March 20th, hmm? Interesting. Thanks to Chasmmi and Jajang (I had to help more with the scoring but you never know what life brings to you till it brings it). JJ-8
Top 7 Weekends (Domestic) I know Chasmmi, posted this already but i'm adding a few stats around the scores and abit more information like above. Simply put this chart was predict the top 7 domestic weekends (not opening weekends, just weekends and a film can only appear once in the chart) Scoring :- In Top 7 = 10k In Exact Spot in Top 7 = 15k Not in Top 7 at all = -7k Weekend Gross Closest Predictor = Bonus 10k Within 1m = 30k Within 2.5m = 25k Within 5m = 20k Within 10m = 15k Within 15m = 10k Within 20m = 5k Within 30m = 0 Outside 30m = -10k Closest Prediction to film in Top 7 = +10k (Additional for 1 player of each of the final top 7 films) Bonus Scores Top 3 in Order = 50k Bonus # films in Top 7 5 / 7 Correct = 75k Bonus 6 / 7 Correct = 100k Bonus 7 / 7 Correct = 150k Bonus Statistics All 27 Players who submitted a Pre-Season submitted a Top 7 A total of 18 films were predicted as part of this chart. No-one picked the 7 films that ended in the top 7. The film most likely missed by everyone was The Good Dinosaur which missed the top 7 by a mere 700k (it was 8th) and was replaced by the Revenant (which in fact was the film that most did not have in their top 7.) 11 Players picked 6 of the 7 films in various orders. The worst prediction was only 4 out of 7 films and thanks to his grosses being out and positions out, he was the on player to receive a -ve score here (bcf26). Surprisingly not everyone picked star wars as the top weekend film. Those that didn't paid for it with lower scores, as they had picked The Hunger games as their #1 Film instead. Outside of the Revenant which was barely picked at all, Star Wars TFA and Deadpool were all but equal first for the worst predicted films gross wise. Of course Deadpool's was worse as no one had it as the 2nd biggest weekend film of the winter. Deadpool also made sure no one got the top 3 in order bonus as a result. (that overperformance cost me close to 60k in the end!) The best predicted film was Kung Fu Panda 3 with an average difference from the actual of nearly 9m. Peanuts wasn't far behind with a just over 10m average. I should also note many also got KFP3 position right or very close to. JJ-8
Top 10 Worldwide As the name implies this chart was the top 10 films worldwide that received a Domestic Release during the time of the game. I've excluded "Monster Hunt" even though it was released domestically during the game, as nearly all of it's gross was made during the previous summer game making it ineligible. Scoring In top 10 = 20k In Exact Spot (in Top 10) = 30k Not in Top 10 = -10k Gross (must be in top 10 to receive score > 0 here) Within 10m = 50k Within 25m = 35k Within 50m = 25k Within 75m = 10k Within 100m = 5k Within 150m = 0 Within 200m = -10k For every 20k beyond = x -1k Bonus Top 3 in Order = 100k Bonus Top 5 in Order = 200k Bonus 8 out of 10 correct (any order in top 10) = 100k Bonus 9 out of 10 correct (any order in top 10) = 150k Bonus 10 out of 10 correct (any order in top 10) = 200k Bonus Statistics All 27 Players who submitted a Pre-Season, answer this. A total of 21 films were predicted by everyone in the game. Everyone had selected Star Wars as their #1 film in this case. In fact many players received the top 3 in order bonus which was Star Wars, Spectre and The Hunger Games. No one picked the top 10 films, but 3 players did pick 9 out of the top 10 films including our highest scorer. Interestingly, the player who scored the best with grosses, did not top this chart, as he only got 8 / 10 films correct. (as their scores are so close on this chart and they just so happen to be our top 2 players too so i'm including both below) Clearly the worst predicted film here was The Hateful Eight which while many had it in their top 10, it failed to even register in the top 10. (in fact it missed it by a good margin) Other than Star Wars, The Revenant and Deadpool which were well underpredicted, most films in the top 10 were well over predicted. JJ-8
BTW - you can see above quite obviously by not predicting the Total Grosses for the top 3 here, he did gain an advantage or did he given Grey Ghost outscored him on the Score (mostly to do with Grey Ghost predicting the grosses better.) It is more obvious in the top 15 which is coming next......
JJ-8
Top 15 Domestic As indicated this is the Top 15 Domestic or pretty much the main / key chart in the game. You do well here, goes a long way to a strong finish. Scoring In Top 15 = 15k In Exact Spot in Top 15 = 25k Not in Top 15 = -10k Gross Closest Gross = 10k Bonus Within 2m = 30k Within 5m = 25k Within 10m = 20k Within 20m = 15k Within 30m = 10k Within 40m = 0 Within 50m = -10k For every 10m beyond this you lose -1k on top of the -10k. Bonus Scores 2 Correct in Order = 75k Bonus 3 In Order = 100k Bonus (there was 4, 5, 10 in order but no one got that lol.) Spots 3 to 6 correct (not ordered) = 100k Bonus Spots 9 to 12 correct (not ordered) = 100k Bonus Any 6 spots in correct spot = 200k Bonus 6 or 7 / 15 = 50k Bonus 8, 9, 10 / 15 = 100k Bonus 11 / 15 = 200k Bonus 12 / 15 = 350k Bonus 13 / 15 = 500k Bonus 14 / 15 = 700k Bonus 15 / 15 = 1m Bonus ... lol 10 or 11 / 15 gross within 40m = 75k Bonus 12 / 15 or better gross within 40m = 150k Bonus Statistics All 27 predicted the top 15. Only Wrath left out grosses for the top 2 films (which gave him a small advantage though he didn't do well enough elsewhere to fully capitalize) A total of 32 films were predicted to make the top 15. 1 film was not released (it was deferred to unknown date - the Nut Job 2 - some nut put it in their top 15 and forgot to take it out ) For a film that everyone picked as their #1 film (Star Wars), due to the gross being so far off for most players, it meant all but a handful of players received a -ve score for this movie. Funnily enough, the highest score for Star Wars was in fact the person who did not put a gross down giving him a substantial advantage for this little bit. the closest was me and i got 1k less than Wrath in this........ No one had Deadpool pegged as the 3rd biggest film and this saved a few other Top 15's by dragging a number of scores backwards because they did not get the top 3 in order bonus. (in fact no one got the top 3 in order thanks to Deadpool) In fact one of the few rare players to get the Spots 3 to 6 correct (not ordered) was Trees herself thanks in fact she had predicted Deadpool to be 6th which was in fact the highest position that anyone predicted Deadpool to make. the other big surprises in the top 15 was Daddy's Home and The revenant which made it in at the expense of The Hateful Eight (nearly everyone) and Joy (+ a mixture of other films) The good Dinosaur, Spectre, Mockingjay Part 2 were all films that were all well over predicted by nearly everyone (everyone had all 3 films in their top 15) Top Score (Well Done @Total Treecall for putting in the strongest top 15!) JJ-8
Ok finally the winners of each Overall Section :- Weekly Scores Exxdee has been known for sometime he's been dominating the weekly game. And surprise, surprise, he came in on top of the weekly charts. It's quite interesting that the final top 2 (Grey Ghost & Wrath) didn't even figure in the top 5 (GG not even in the top 10 here) and yet are able to top the game overall. So While the weekly scores are fun and certainly you need to be in the mix, the real key to this game is a fantastic pre-season (as you will see in a moment). Of note, 3 players did submit any weekly answers hence the score of 0. # User Weekly's Total 1 Exxdee 596000 2 Infernus 538000 3 DamienRoc 538000 4 darkelf 532000 5 kayumanggi 517000 6 Wrath 473000 7 DAJK 470000 8 chasmmi 464000 9 thatoneguy 445000 10 Movieman89 441000 11 grey ghost 440000 12 glassfairy 440000 13 WrathofHan 439000 14 Blankments 433000 15 MikeKaye42 430000 16 Telemachos 426000 17 misafeco 412000 18 Filmovie 409000 19 Jajang (JJ-8) 408000 20 avi (Sakskidz) 403000 21 bcf26 324000 22 Kalo 121000 23 99 Trees 42000 24 BastienGiot 32000 25 Alfred 24000 26 laguy03 0 27 The Panda 0 28 Baumer 0
JJ-8
Spur of the Moment Chart You could say the SOTM questions seperated the boys or girls from the men or women! Half the players ended up with -ve scores (some of those due to the fact they did not submit answers of course). Darkelf took out the win here with WrathofHan and chasmmi hot on his heals (Chasmmi had a strong finish the SOTM shooting him up the chart thanks to final week madness) Our final winners did fair a little better here with 4th and 6th place positions. This also caused a few players who ended at the bottom of the final top 10, to really lose out here... here it is. # User SOTM Total 1 darkelf 316000 2 WrathofHan 272000 3 chasmmi 230000 4 Wrath 225000 5 glassfairy 218000 6 grey ghost 206000 7 DamienRoc 162000 8 Exxdee 156000 9 Telemachos 116000 10 thatoneguy 90000 11 DAJK 81000 12 bcf26 65000 13 misafeco 28000 14 Infernus 25000 15 Jajang (JJ-8) -11000 16 Filmovie -40000 17 kayumanggi -63000 18 Blankments -75000 19 Movieman89 -88000 20 avi (Sakskidz) -94000 21 Alfred -107000 22 BastienGiot -115000 23 laguy03 -115000 24 The Panda -115000 25 Baumer -115000 26 99 Trees -121000 27 Kalo -131000 28 MikeKaye42 -315000
JJ-8
Pre-Season Results Here is where it all changes. Grey Ghost pulled in a memorable win from Wrath here. thanks mostly to his magnificent top 15. His top 15 was 2nd only the 3rd placed pre-season by Trees. Movieman & Jajang rounded out the top 5 in very strong finishes to game. If only they hadn't risked so much in the SOTM question then they might as chasmmi hinted at, been in the mix at end. Scary to think how much of a spread we had out of the pre-season going from nearly 1.8m points down to just over 300k. Thats a spread of nearly 1.5m!!!! Crazy stuff. A bad Pre-Season can ruin a great weekly and SOTM result (see DamienRoc who barely registered in this chart) Here is the overall Pre-Season Results (showing all the tallys from earlier charts) # User PreSeason Total Bonus (template) Domestic Dom W/E WW Total Grosses Star Wars OS Pre-Season Questions Star Wars Questions 1 grey ghost 1795000 10000 766000 141000 418000 50000 175000 162000 73000 2 Wrath 1700000 10000 660000 111000 421000 40000 175000 223000 60000 3 99 Trees 1579000 10000 839000 86000 341000 35000 120000 65000 83000 4 Movieman89 1465000 10000 544000 161000 320000 25000 175000 170000 60000 5 Jajang (JJ-8) 1418000 10000 601000 193000 181000 40000 110000 210000 73000 6 Alfred 1350000 10000 589000 81000 340000 55000 65000 137000 73000 7 Infernus 1349000 10000 471000 163000 319000 15000 110000 188000 73000 8 DAJK 1319000 10000 550000 133000 153000 150000 120000 130000 73000 9 Exxdee 1306000 10000 482000 173000 314000 25000 65000 185000 52000 10 kayumanggi 1285000 0 546000 138000 266000 40000 110000 125000 60000 11 WrathofHan 1263000 10000 551000 126000 135000 40000 175000 143000 83000 12 darkelf 1227000 10000 678000 136000 146000 10000 65000 99000 83000 13 misafeco 1190000 10000 380000 136000 295000 25000 175000 125000 44000 14 thatoneguy 1185000 10000 266000 133000 356000 40000 175000 80000 125000 15 chasmmi 1164000 10000 418000 163000 263000 25000 130000 111000 44000 16 laguy03 1124000 10000 381000 131000 253000 65000 195000 37000 52000 17 Kalo 1060000 10000 304000 158000 270000 40000 75000 151000 52000 18 The Panda 1045000 10000 296000 148000 162000 25000 175000 146000 83000 19 Telemachos 979000 10000 381000 24000 279000 15000 110000 100000 60000 20 Filmovie 872000 0 415000 178000 45000 15000 110000 73000 36000 21 avi (Sakskidz) 867000 10000 407000 158000 -48000 0 185000 95000 60000 22 DamienRoc 851000 10000 264000 146000 15000 40000 185000 131000 60000 23 Blankments 806000 10000 150000 126000 110000 25000 130000 203000 52000 24 glassfairy 735000 10000 246000 156000 96000 65000 65000 53000 44000 25 bcf26 520000 10000 228000 -11000 12000 55000 75000 107000 44000 26 Baumer 481000 10000 127000 14000 36000 0 110000 140000 44000 27 MikeKaye42 313000 10000 44000 56000 27000 10000 75000 63000 28000

Chasmmi as his ingenious scoring systems just keep on getting more and more complex EDIT - @chasmmi i think give this a few more days in the main forum before moving it back to the sub forum.......
Avatree
Yay, I had the best domestic predictions. Now if only I hadn't given up after a few weeks I might have done better overall... I will try to actually participate in the next game. Though I said that last time about this one. Congrats Grey Ghost and thanks chasmmi for running this.
