WrathOfHan

Official Weekend Estimates: Goosebumps - 23.5M; The Martian - 21.5M; Bridge of Spies - 15.4M; Crimson Peak - 12.9M (Page 1)

Recommended Posts

Goosebumps 7.3

Martian 6.4

Bridge/Crimson 5.5

Hotel 3.4

These are weak numbers for everything even Martian but they are especially bad for Crimson because it doesn't look like the WOM is going to be great.

Agu's monologue, followed by that last scene gave me chills.

I know there's a lot of politics that go into these awards and it's probably a longshot considering this was released on Netflix and there's already a backlash about it, but man, Idris Elba deserves an Oscar for this.

Elba could get in. I think the problem is that it is too dark rather than that it is Netflix.

It's good for Goosebumps. It can make near 30m OW, many people didn't even think if could make even half that a few months ago.

Emma Stone was attached to CP initially. People talk about star power being of little importance these days but this is one of those instances where a movie would've been helped by a star.

Emma Stone has about as much star power as JC does, really.

Emma Stone dodged a bullet by not being in Crimson Peak, but she still ended up doing Aloha.

Emma's "starpower" certainly didn't help Aloha or her string of Woody Allen flops.

That seems like a double edged sword. While it's lower than most major releases it seems a little too high for its genre.

Most of the sets were practical, they had to recreate a Victorian style mansion, even the ghosts weren't 100% CGI. It's not easy making or inexpensive making a film like CP.
