The Futurist
I do get chills every time I see the trailer, so that's a good sign. I'm sure she'll win the Oscar. The scene where she sings live while crying, I mean come on, the thing is already in her bag.
Impact
Meh my REAL Oscar predictions:Breaking Dawn 2 (Blockbuster nod)Oogieloves (They love these indies)The Possesion (They really will go nuts!)House at the End of the Street (Well Jennifer Lawrence has this in the bag)Silent Hill 2That's My Boy (There comedy pic)Ghost Rider 2 (Hey it stars a Oscar winner!)For a Good Time Call...(Well it has 2 women a the leads!)High School (Oh yeah)
Impact
I'm seeing "The Sessions" mentioned a bit in the acting threads but not here. Remember-the last film to win 2 acting Oscars without a pic nod was Hud in the 1960s. Now not saying it will be nominated, i just find this intresting. Jake Gittes
I'd be surprised if both Hawkes and Hunt won. But we'll see how the buzz builds after release.
acsc1312
Hawkes won't win. No chance at the moment. Edited September 17, 2012 by acsc1312
Impact
I didn't say they would win. But I was commenting on how I saw them both listed for nominations.
riczhang
Hawkers won't win. No chance at the moment.I'm so empathic about Amour being the best picture of the year, that I read your post as Haneke won't win, and I almost went nuts. Impact
I should add that people are saying Hunt and Hawkes are frontrunners. So I'm just surprised that nobody has it in this thread. I don't know that much about the film though
Jake Gittes
Well, if the field turns out to be weaker than expected (or if the movie is really, really loved) I can see it following, say, a film like The Kids Are All Right to the BP nom. It also seems like a good contender for Screenplay in any case.

Impact
Yep.Cold Mountain was a OC. Closer was a OC. Alexander was a OC
CoolioD1
Cold Mountain and Closer were nominated in major categories, so yes, they were Oscar contenders. Just not as big as most were expecting.
Impact
People were saying they were LOCKS for BP
Webslinger
To be fair, though, I think Cold Mountain would have made the Best Picture cut under the current system. Its position as a prestige picture that was generally more admired than loved (and still snagged a few below the line nominations) is similar to that of War Horse last year. Impact
It still was funny about Harvey's reaction when it was not nominated
CoolioD1
Nominee announcement this year is on Jan 10th. Apparently this is the first time the nominations have been announced before the Golden Globes ceremony. I hope this means they'll eventually move the Oscars up a couple weeks as well. Impact
It is possible then we could actually have the first winner for best drama not to be nominated for picture in 50 years.
