Hahaha haha yes. The movie isn't technically flawed, but its message turned off a lot of people.

Stay there with your very wrong opinion then. We agree to disagree.

Martin Campbell only makes good movies when he's doing Bond. That's his MO.

Mask of Zorro is fantastic thank you very much.

Which, when thinking about it, is basically a superhero origin movie.

BvS is a shitstorm. Tomorrowland is a good family flick with a murky message.

We agree to disagree. Tomorrowland is beyond absurd. Nothing made in the last few years touches the absurdity of the last 20 minutes of that movie.

Cristiano Ronaldo just mudered the Camp Nou.

Hehe as Real Madrid fan, nothing has pleased me more. I mean except BvS box office performance (I kid, I kid) Cristiano silencing Barca fans is always something. CJohn how do you feel about Ronaldo, being from Portugal and what not?

Well, they listened to some of the criticism from MOS, you know like the destruction being actually what fuels Bruce's hate for Superman. The tone ? They weren't going to change the tone from MOS to BvS, that would have been jarring, I don't think there was that much outcry about the tone for MOS by the way, there were more problems basically about the destruction, Superman's portrayal compared to what people are used to, that kind of thing.

The ending in BvS shows a renewed hope in Bruce, this need to unite, Justice League was probably always going to be lighter, you just need that transition, Terrio likened BvS to Empire Strikes Back in terms of tone. Hell, WB probably knew the reception would be mixed, but sometimes you can't just compromise your vision just because people tell you to, you can listen to criticism, but it can also be the wrong thing to just give people what they want or what they think they want. It"s all about balance.

So I bet they had already started, before that whole critical disaster happened, making JL lighter.

Ronaldo (and Mourinho) are pretty much Gods here.

I like him. I have a few problems with his attitude, but he is a great soccer player and seeing him shut down Camp Nou was hilarious and awesome.

Taken 3's plot.

Not even that, but it comes really, really close.

How is it listening to criticism of the destruction by making it the entire driving force for Bruce Wayne and then spend a good portion of the movie doing the same over the top CGI destruction?  The tone explanation is just as head shaking.

You are arguing that WB is hearing the criticism, listening, learning, etc... when all most people saw in Batman v Superman is them doubling down on the tone and destruction.

Dude, seriously? They scale WAY BACK from the CGI porn destruction of the first movie. It has FAR LESS than MoS.

Also, a good portion? It has like 20 minutes at the end against Doomsday. Man of Steel has like 90-100 minutes at the end plus the 20 minutes opener

That's what I thought but I know people love to hate him so I was wondering how he was perceived in Portugal. But yes Ronaldo coming through has made my day B)

"studio interference"

"change the director"

"change the screenwriter"

"well Sam Raimi made Spidey 3"

"But, you know, Brad Bird made Tomorrow land"

"hu,hu, Martin Campbell directed that crappy Green Lantern movie"

"hire talented directors"

Guys, have you already watched a making of, the 10-15-20 hours kind of making ofs ?

People need to educate themselves about filmmaking a bit.

Nobody wants to make a crappy movie, nobody, even the director of Paul Blart 2, or the caterer of BvS.

The 1500 people who worked their asses off on BvS wanted to make the best movie they could.

Filmmaking is such a chaotic process with so many variables that you cannot predict the outcome of how a movie is gonna turn out or is gonna be received.

Movies are fragile things, one scene can kill a movie, the Emo dance of Spidey 3.

Plus plenty or people like BvS, Spiderman 3, Iron Man 2, The Chipmunks movies, Michael Haneke s Movies if you can believe it, the world is never black and white nor binary.

They have haters here. But 99% of the people here like them.

The problem was never really the amount of CGI destruction. They might have cut down on it but that wasn't what people were really complaining about.  In both films, the destruction was cool but shallow.

If Batman during the Doomsday fight had been trying to save people while Wonder Woman and Superman fought Doomsday off, that would have started to address concerns.

People don't just want to see Superman beat up bad guys.  They want to see him save us from bad guys.  And even the little saving that was in the movie?  All gloom.

I can't believe what I hear sometimes.  The DC iconic property featuring Batman and Superman with about $400m in budget/advertising thrown behind it is going to get beat down at the box office by a C-list character and a budget about 1/5th the budget, an R rating, no 3D and a worse release date.  It also is going to get beat down by an original cartoon movie featuring a cute bunny and some funny sloths.  This isn't even mentioning the horrible reviews and bad cinemascore/WOM and crumbling numbers overseas which is the real danger for WB/DC.

That isn't a troll, but an honest assessment of the current competition releasing immediately around it.

With all this said, the reaction you see from some people is "don't worry, they are listening and learning, it will be fine and this is all overreaction".  It blows my mind.

Someone mentioned Divergent earlier, and if they continue to let Snyder direct these, that is exactly the sort of diminishing box office trajectory they are asking for.  People simply aren't going to trust him or Warner Bros. and won't spend their money on it.
