This is the sort of film that'll do well in home entertainment and TV airings. I don't know how they could do a third film without resorting to the usual families on vacation idea or something else.

...and they get Harrison Ford to play Mel Gibson's grumpy father.

Gibson and Lithgow seriously should have swapped places

I had that thought when they were cast. Having Gibson as the tough guy Wahlberg’s father and Lithgow as the doe-eyed Ferrell’s father was too obvious.

When have these sorts of sequels ever been creative?

Don’t get me wrong. I fully expected them to be cast the way they were. Just when it wasn’t confirmed who would play which one, I was secretly hoping they’d go the opposite way. So things returned to business as usual when it was confirmed who they’d be playing.

After the weekend actuals of close to $30m., what are the chances of DH2 crossing the $100m. line?

It needs to not get totally crushed next weekend and to post good numbers on Thanksgiving to still be in enough theaters when Christmas weeks are coming. WOM seems to be solid so id say we have to wait for next weekend or atleast the weekday numbers to have a better picture.
