rockNrollaDIM
Seems like a deserving winner to me. Davis and the other lady have been cleaning up, with Chastain getting attention too. Clearly there's at least two-three very strong performances in the ensemble.
Noctis
Jessica Chastain, Octavia Spencer, and Viola Davis were all spectacular, especially Jessica.
Travod
In The Help? I don't even remember Chastain. She didn't do anything. If only she got the nomination for The Tree of Life.
Noctis
What on earth? She had a large role and was the most vibrant on screen. I fucking love Chastain after being in The Help and Tree of Life.
Travod
I remember she ate fried chicken but that's about it. I love her too, but for TOL
The Dark Alfred
No, her best role was Take Shelter. She had quite a year. I just don't get why Davis isn't supportive and why is the lead actress, Emma Stone is so overlooked.
Noctis
Because those three gave powerhouse performances that completely overshadowed Emma's?Plus, Bryce Dallas Howard was fucking epic in the film.
Gopher
Great night for The Help. Still won't stop The Artist train, though. Best Actress becomes a tossup again and Clooney's no longer locked (though still the frontrunner) for Best Actor.
Noctis
I love George Clooney. I don't think I've seen an actor who commands your attention on screen as much as he does. Just insane charisma.
DAR
I thought Stone, Davis, Spencer, Chastain and Howard were all fantastic in the Help
DAR
I love George Clooney. I don't think I've seen an actor who commands your attention on screen as much as he does. Just insane charisma. It's funny I was just watching Ocean's 11 and I agree the guy is a movie star. The box office of his films might not say it but being a star isn't just about box office. Incarnadine
Ensemble is an acting award, not the same as best picture, and The Help fully deserved that win. It's a true ensemble with 6 or 7 strong performances. Viola and Octavia, of course, but Jessica Chastain was fantastic, Emma Stone was very good and completely underrated, Allison Janney and Bryce Dallas Howard were also good in their roles. Also, even though their romes were smaller Sissy Spacek and Cicely Tyson were amazing. That is a very deep ensemble.
CloneWars
Would be funny if The Help took BP, but it is only nominated in 3 categories with 4 noms total, plus it doesn't have an editing nom or a directing nom. If it won, that would totally go against Oscar history and actually a bigger upset than win Crash won over Brokeback Mountain
ravon80
I'm really happy The Help won. Fantastic ensemble. No way. The Ides of March had the true #1 ensemble of 2011 and it wasn't even nominated! What a joke!
Travod
My mom despises George Clooney because of what he did to that girl. IDK they broke up or something. And she hates The Descendants because of him. And every time he or it is mentioned in the list of nominations she basically spits xD
CloneWars
My mom despises George Clooney because of what he did to that girl. IDK they broke up or something. And she hates The Descendants because of him. And every time he or it is mentioned in the list of nominations she basically spits xDDoesn't she know that movies aren't real. And, anyway, he didn't go and cheat. The girl's husband did that, so, I don't see why your mom is upset. Have you seen the movie? Edit--I'm thinking that we may yet see a BP/BD split. Fanboy
Could these awards be any more predictable?
Travod
This year it seems way more predictable because I've been watching/following every single awards show, even the critics ones. Last year I just watched the Oscars.
