I found out today it is getting a dubbed version released in theaters here... 2 days before the premiere. Disney sure sent a strong message to their WW partners: Alice 2 = no fucks given.

The marketing campaign for Jungle Book was embarrassing and the movie payed for that. The Marvel movies also get fucked every time. Just an all around incompetent team. But at least Jungle Book's dubbed version was announced in the day the teaser trailer was released.

Monday: $635k (-66.6%)

Tuesday: $802k (+26.3%)

Wednesday: $673k (-16.1%)

Thursday: $407k (-39.6%)

Friday: $583k (+43.2%)

Saturday: $837k (+43.6%)

Sunday: $710k (-15.2%)

Monday: $196k (-72.4%)

 

So yeah, it's the Memorial Day drop that's killing it.

The Monday drop is generous and no movie is increasing on Tuesday this week. Friday jump is ridiculously small as well.

Theaters care about the money more than how long a movie has been in IMAX. Civil War would earn probably 20-25M over the 4 day weekend, Alice will earn almost double that, which means double the IMAX gross as well which means the theaters make more money by programming new movies. If Civil War had a box office run like Avengers, there is a chance theaters could have done sharing IMAX, but with its current box office run, it makes no sense for them.

No, they care about those dirty contracts  I am pretty sure they would prefer to switch to Apocalypse instead of Alice. Apocalypse sold out tons of times here in IMAX over the weekend.
