Summer Game SOTM 5: This is not ripping off Fantasy Box Office I promise

Recommended Posts

Here is the deal: You give me and 20,000 of your hard earned points and use them to invest in any of the films that will be shown below. For every 5 million dollars that film makes at the Domestic Box Office by the end of the game, you will make 1000 points.

So if a film ends on $79.5M, you will earn 15000 points for that film. If it makes $80.3M you get 16000.

This SOTM is actually designed so that players should all make a healthy profit on their investment, the question is how much and what is the correct course of action.

You can invest in as many films as you wish so long as you don't spend more than 20,000 points

* You cannot invest less than 20,000, if you only invest 15,000 the other 5000 will still be taken so you may as well spend it all.

I will allow players to abstain for 2000 points, but I can't see anybody taking that offer as it would been you are not confident in say Finding Dory crawling its way to $100M  for example :)

Films for Sale:

Finding Dory - 20000

So, just to be clear...

Lets say you pick a film that costs 10,000 points, and that film grosses $150m at the box office. Does that mean you get 20,000 points? (10,000 initial investment, film earns $150m, divided by $5m, equals to 30,000. So 30,000 - 10,000 = 20,000).

Edit: Also, will you round up the points? Cause you said if a film earns $79.5m, you get 15,000 points. But if you divide 79.5 by 5, you get 15.9, so will you round it up to 16 and get 16,000 points?

The 20,000 cost bit is to imply that there is some risk to this question when there isn't. :)

But yes that is basically it yes. If your investments manage to total $105M, it means that you are into profit.

No, it's one a per full $5M tick. So 15.05M is 3000 points and $19.96M is also 3000 points and it ticks to 4000 points at $20M
