Fox may be a horrible studio currently but even they can't screw up Deadpool 2.  All they have to do is let the big boys do what they did in the original and they will be fine.  Fox can't be that stupid.

Great post.  Fox actually had nothing to do with Deadpool's success.  It took them 11 years to green light it for pete sake.  And you are right, it was all the people you mentioned that got it made.

And even when they green lit, they had no faith in it. They only made it so everyone would shut up and leave them alone. I remember reading the Fox exec saying he was doing cartwheels after he saw Deadpool's OW numbers. So embarrassing.

I'm guessing nothing could save Indie Day 2, really. If you're gonna wait 20 years to make a sequel, you need to pull out the stops and make it actually look and feel special. And they didn't.

Can Roland Emmerich stop making films, please. He has had 4 back to back failures and its become obvious that his spectacle films no longer sell. Even 2012 with excellent marketing, good hype and buzz, did only 166 million domestic. Overseas saved that movie. He has yet to make a thoroughly satisfying movie as ID and his last solid movie was TDAT.

Horrible with the new leadership and current mess? They had a weak year in 2015, but had Kingsman and The Martian.

Never say never. Xmen apocalyPSE after dofp? Tbf, that movie got harsh reviews. Didn't help it came out after civil war.

But films aren't made with just North America in mind.  Emmerich is not a failure if his films are making 600 million internationally.  Obviously this one will not come close to that but when Emmerich's films are green lit, they are expected to do well internationally.

When Deadline published that Emma Watts was going to be re-upped, a lot of commenters said negative things about her. Her contract apparently goes through next year. If Apes and Kingsman underperform, maybe they will be compelled to shake things up.

I' m genuinely curious why they had Hemsworth's character at all. Will Smith's kid served the same basic purpose, but had the obvious benefit of stronger ties to the original. Plus they could've done a sort of CREED-ish thing with him.

Everytime I see Liam Hemsworth in a film I'm reminded of how good Chris really is in comparison. Too bad it doesn't help his draw power anymore than Liam's though lol.

Fox should have a pretty solid 2017. Apes will gross over 200M, Kingsman will do mid to high 100's, Alien should do low 100's, and Wolverine could match Apocalypse on a much lower budget.
