Just like Lilo & Stitch didn't upstage Miyazaki. As a fan of both of his previous films that would be great to see. Not sure he has a Spirited Away-level undeniable movie in him though, and especially not sure if whoever's distributing it will be able to push it the way Disney and Lasseter pushed SA. We'll see.
Morieris
There'll be enough indie noms to make it look like the Academy cares but Coco will probably win in the end unless it's Cars level abysmal. Haven't heard of any of the GKIDS stuff, lot of potential there.

I bet it'll still win unless another movie gets wide enough distribution to not be quietly ignored + amazing reviews.

cannastop
Well, Lego Batman got great reviews. I still think it has a shot at a nomination, past snub or no.
AniNate
Really depends on how good the indie circuit is. Sent from my Z820 using Tapatalk

SchumacherFTW
I wonder if A Silent Voice will make it over to the states this year. Not got a chance of being nominated, but I hear good things all the same. Looking forward to seeing it next month when it releases in the UK. lolifofo
Guys, these two European animations coming out this year look AMAZING! The one to the right is by the same studio that made The Secret of Kells and Song of the Sea!

BadAtGender
I kinda doubt Wolfwalkers will get a release this year. Cartoon Saloon's next film is The Breadwinner, due this summer, and Wolfwalkers doesn't even have a release date, yet. I'm not actually sure they've even started on the animation.

So its not happening. The foreign offerings definitely look stronger than domestic this year.

Smaller release than Yu-Gi-Oh, GITS and Your Name over the last few months.
cannastop
Could this year be the first time since Rango that a non-Disney movie gets this award?
cannastop
Right now my predictions are: Loving Vincent Coco The Thousand Miles The Breadwinner The Girl Without Hands No idea who will win.
SchumacherFTW
I could see "In this corner of the world" sneaking in. I know the academy usually ignores non Ghibli anime, but it beat Your Name to the Japanese Academy prize, and they love WW2 at Oscar....
