I don't even want all of Star Wars, just one tiny slice of it set 4,000 years prior to the Episodes.

But this is part of a bigger discussion.

My two cents remains as it is, really; at a certain level of consistent super-blockbuster franchises it becomes kind of anti-competitive to the other players. In any case though, Disney taking a five-year-break from Star Wars movies doesn't seem likely in the near future, so for that franchise the point is kind of moot with the current rules anyway.

Daniel Henney to narrate eco-Doc THE CRITTERS NEXT DOOR for Y4, exploring wildlife in our own backyards and exploring solutions to ensure a sustainable coexistence between humanity and wildlife.

You know someone's truly made it when they get to narrate a nature doc :sparta:

More on this, Michael B Jordan and Constance Wu are to lead in the project. Rumor has it it’s being fast tracked to Y4. The project is being described as mix of Hourglass’ Spark franchise and Black Panther.

BREAKING NEWS

Following confirmation at SDCC that Voltron: Legendary Defender, the source of inspiration for Cookie Pictures successful Voltron cinematic franchise, is set to air its two final seasons before the end of the year, Cookie Pictures has today put out a press release announcing Voltron co-creator Lauren Montgomery's involvement in a new original IP under development at Cookie Pictures Animation.

SkyRiders

280full.jpg

SkyRiders, set be written and directed by Montgomery, is an animated fantasy set in a "kingdom far up in the clouds" regularly under assault by flying leviathans only held back by a steady force of male fighter pilots who risk their lives daily to combat it. However, as leviathan attacks become more and more frequent straining the kingdom's defenses, a lone woman breaks her ranks and sneaks her way into male territory, and to everyone's shock proves herself a natural born ace in combating the leviathans. Maintaining her disguise as a male, she receives adoration from her male co-pilots yet unaware of her true identity... if that even is her true identity and she doesn't see herself becoming something else entirely.

Touching on themes of identity and the lines between male and female, SkyRiders is said to have highly impressed Cookie Pictures President and CEO Sebastian Peters during the initial pitch, so much so he's positioned as the "fourth pillar" in Cookie Pictures Y5 strategy, joining the previously announced Voltron 4TSW2 and Project Sun God (the Scrooge McDuck-spinoff centered around his nephew Donald).

"It's sort of the departments behind the big three all coming together to create something wonderful and exciting" said a Cookie Pictures executive involved in the project. "Lauren has the full support behind the Voltron team, the added prowess of the writing staff tasked with helping develop original properties like The Scavenger Wars, and the artistic and technological might of the helmers of the Duckverse franchise. It's a smorgasbord of talent at her disposal."

Adding to that statement, it has been confirmed that SkyRiders will follow The Number One Dime and the forthcoming Project Sun God in being produced in its entirety in the 1.43:1 IMAX format. According to the executive the format will be used to depict the wide canvas and scale of the battles between the pilots and the leviathans. Early concept art depicts a swarm of WWII-era fighter planes descending on these massive flying beasts in a battle for control of the sky.

Bex Taylor-Klaus and Marton Csokas among the actors in talk to voice some of the leading roles. Because of the coordinated involvement between various departments, major names like Mark Dindal, Joaquim Dos Santos and Matt & Ross Duffer are on board in producer roles.

SkyRiders is set to be released in Year 5, with more details and a full reveal expected at this year's Cookie Pictures Power Expo.
