Attached to Codename: Kids Next Door

—————————————————————-

We open in Dr Cortex’s underground laboratory. We see the henchmen from the last movie (Pinstripe, Brio, Bull Bill, Koala Kong) with new additions of Fishsticks (Matt Stone), a reverse merman, Dingodile (Josh Peck), a dingo/crocodile hybrid, and Tiny Tiger (Drake Bell), an ironically tall and buff tiger. Cortex and Uka Uka (Patrick Stewart) burst in as the party comes to a humorously awkward stop.

Spyro: Dragonheart

Battletoads

We then cut to Crash’s hut as Crash, Aku Aku and Tanwa are having a discussion.

Aku Aku: My brother has resurfaced and is planning on taking over the planet.

We cut to Uka Uka being reawakened by Doctor Cortex.

Uka Uka (in a booming voice): Why have you awoken me?!

Cortex: O great and powerful Uka Uka, I need your help in...

Uka Uka (interrupting): To take over the world?

Cortex: How did you know?

Uka Uka: I’m an evil sorcerer, I know all about world domination. Not to mention you seem pretty incompetent in general.

We then cut to back to hut.

Aku Aku: The only way to stop my brother is to retrieve a old spell hidden in Apuwm Island.

Crash: I am digging a new adventure.

We then cut to a series of action pieces. Tanwa with an electrical bo staff chasing down Cortex in his octopus robot with a bunch of captured bandicoots. Crash, Tanwa and Aku Aku running away from a giant gem spider. Crash and Aku Aku fighting Cortex’s henchmen. And finally an active volcano where Crash, Aku Aku and Tanwa are standing over the peak in suits.

Tanwa: So the only way to get to the spell is through an active volcano.

Aku Aku: Yep, but we must go in at the right time where...

We hear Crash yelling as he falls inside the volcano.

Aku Aku: Nevermind

Tanwa and Aku Aku jump in after Crash.

We then cut to Uka Uka using his dark magic, on a pile of machinery parts and bandicoot fur, creating Crunch (Channing Tatum), a bandicoot cyborg as Cortex, Brio and the henchmen watch. Crunch awakens in a hostile panic.

Crunch: Who are you?! Where am I? What am I?

Cortex: The key to changing the world.

Crunch: I’m a key?

RED CRESCENT MAKES BIG 3D PUSH FOR 'DARKNESS DWELLS DEEP'

Despite the fact that the "fad" period of 3D in North America has been over for years - with the days when a movie like Avatar or Alice in Wonderland could make 70% or more of their stateside gross from premium 3D ticket sales long gone - Red Crescent Pictures has announced their recently-unveiled low-budget horror movie Darkness Dwells Deep will be showing almost exclusively in the stereoscopic format. Citing the fact the horror movies have historically led the way in 3D - 1953's House of Wax was the first 3D feature from a major studio, and 3D chillers My Bloody Valentine and The Final Destination predated the release of Avatar - and the fact that they typically over-index with their 3D ticket shares, the studio confirms it will not be booking the movie in theatres not equipped to show "quality digital 3D."

"The movie will be available to see in 2D, for people who have issues with watching 3D movies," a spokesperson confirms. "But we're instructing theatres to keep it to one or two flat showings a day, with the bulk of the presentations in 3D. This is a natively-shot film in real 3D, and the 3D is tied into the story. We think it's an essential part of the film, and we think horror audiences will appreciate it and be receptive of it."

The movie is directed by M.J. Bassett, who previously helmed two other 3D horror pics, Open Road Films' Silent Hill: Revelation and MV Pictures' Y1 Easter release The Defiler. Red Crescent found great success re-launching the Silent Hill film franchise last year, retaining the 3D but not Bassett. Darkness Dwells Deep opens June 29th as counter-programming to the family animation TaleSpin.

Could a ’special’ cut of The Scavenger Wars be coming?

As production proceeds on the Duffer brothers’ Voltron: Reunion and its yet untiled sucessor, as well as pre-production commencing on TSW2, the first of two announced successors to the Duffer-helmed The Scavenger Wars now being helmed by Mississippi Grind directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, a trusted source within Cookie Pictures has informed CAYOM Magazine that plans are being made to produce and release a ”special” version of the original film, possibly in the run-up to the release of TSW2 in Y5.

”While everyone’s obviously thrilled over the acclaim the released cut has recieved, a lot ended up left on the cutting room floor due to time constraints” the source says. ”Oddly enough, the dissatisfaction with the theatrical cut came from [Cookie Pictures President Sebastian] Peters himself more than the Duffers, even as they agree that more could’ve been done with it. This was Peter’s pet project from the start, and he’s the one pushing for this cut to be made.”

”A lot of discussion internally is centered around scenes of character development and worldbuilding, as well as the film’s somewhat rushed epilogue. Some boil down to a simple re-arrangement of certain scenes, others include entire minor subplots that were only alluded to in the final film, some they will have to go back and maybe reshoot worst case scenario. There may be a bit more action, but that would just be extensions of the action scenes already present in the film that were either edited down for time or to preserve a PG-13 rating.”

”There’s deleted scenes with Henney, Scott, Isaacs, Lennix, Winstead, Fishburne as well as elements of the H.F.F that are all being considered to be put back in should this special cut become a reality.  Don’t expect much from Tamara, the robots or the rest of Khouga though, expanding their parts would cost in the tens of millions to get the unfinished VFX up to par. Instead those scenes as well as several other concepts scrapped earlier in production have, from what I’ve been told, been shown to Boden & Fleck as a source of inspiration for the sequel.”

”From what I hear, they’re considering more scenes elaborating on Packer’s background and his self-destructive ideology. Isaacs being hailed as the film’s MVP came as a bit of a surprise to Peters, who was pushing for Wright over Isaacs, and since his character wouldn’t be able to return in future movies outside of flashbacks, these reinstated scenes would be there to fill in any gaps in his characterization.”

[ UPDATE: CAYOM Magazine has received word that Jason Isaacs as well as Harry Lennix are in talks to reprise their roles in TSW2, presumably in flashbacks. ]

”Another point of focus right now is Winstead’s Captain Lucina, not just because of the positive reception to her character in spite of her lower screentime, but also because of the commitment to make her the co-star along with Wright in TSW2. In fact, were this cut to happen, both sequels would acknowledge it as canon over the original version.”

With no announcement from Cookie Pictures and thus no release frame set in stone, it remains to be seen if this cut can be made and screened before the release of TSW2 in the summer of Y5.

”With the Duffer brothers being busy with their Voltron two-parter, I hear they may be less hands on with this version, but Peters wants their input as much as possible and if not he at least wants their blessing. I hear Boden and Fleck are also being brought in to make sure whatever added characterization for the likes of Winstead, Wright and Fishburne doesn’t clash with their vision for part two.”

”The title internally is said to be The Scavenger Wars - Special Edition and I hear it may be pushing the three-hour mark, but the plan is to not let it bloat past that. Some stuff in the original cut may even be altered or removed altogether to accomodate these new bits, but nothing has been set in stone yet.”
