Racism affects absolutely every movie since there are racists in every race. However AWIT wasnt hit by $20-30M because of it. It was hit because its a shitty movie. Oh and Oprah is the opposite of a BO draw, not because she is black, but because she is insufferable.

there's a demonstrable trend of racist backlash against book characters being cast as poc in adaptations of those books. racist people tend to imagine the characters as being their own race and get mad when the character is different in the adaptation. i'm really not saying any new information
