He was fine in TL the same way Hayden Christenson was fine in the ST prequels.

Not that Hedlund is by any means a great actor, but Christensen is in another realm of awful (at least in AotC, you can make an argument for same ballpark for the first half of Episode III).

If Hedlund is good in Inside Llewyn Davis, hey, he'll already have a more accomplished career critically than Hayden, who somehow got the role in Shattered Glass, and was still mostly bad.

Hedlund was fantastic in On The Road. Even if the film as a whole was a mess he atleast has that going for him...

I don`t understand why people here continue to point out how great Hedlund is in ________ (insert small movie). That`s completely irrelevant to his bored and boring paycheck collector of a perforemnce in Tron. Nobody is disputing that he`s a fine indie/small movie actor. But Troy and Tron were his trully bland entries so maybe he really isn`t a big movie carrier. Colin Farrell has the same problem. Terrific in small movies (Tigerland, In Bruges) or quirky supporting roles (Horrible Bosses), bland in big shit (Alexander, Total Recall) or ridiculously OTT (Daredevil). Big movies aren`t for everyone. Many actors are just lost in them. It`s like some actors can act against green screen no problem (or they have better guidance by the director) and some can`t.

WonderCon 2013: Director Joseph Kosinski Updates on ‘TRON: Legacy’ Sequel and ‘The Black Hole’ Remake

http://latino-review.com/2013/03/31/wondercon-2013-director-joseph-kosinski-updates-tron-legacy-sequel-the-black-hole-remake/?

“We’ve been working on the story for four years now. The first draft, [in which] Jesse Wigutow is writing it, is supposed to come in the next couple of weeks so the idea we have is really exciting. It has to be pretty exciting enough to get everyone back together. Those are pretty hard movies to make. Legacy was almost three years. We got a really exciting idea for it. As long as the script can kind of deliver on that—the interest is there on the studio side. It’s going to have enough creative juices to have in order to dive back in. We got some exciting ideas—so we’ll see.”

Exciting ideas like putting Tron in the background as a faceless and anonymous henchman for almost the whole movie?

Or despite the fact they got flying ships they never get to Old Flynn's penthouse following the buggy even if it is straight visible from the city?

Or Clu's idiotic plan to invade real world by somehow get his big fat starship carrier and whole goons army through a portal that lend you in an Arcade Games tiny remote cave.

I think they banked on Boxoffice Poison #1 lounging on a couch in her Tron catsuit a bit too much.

Agree with everything you say. The movie was titled Tron Legacy and there was barely any Tron and mostly Boxoffice Posion #1 trying to look wide-eyed and chidlike in her S&M dominatrix wig and digital gladiator garb.
