Rudolf
Intouchables has finished its run in Germany after 41 weeks, many of which were spent on top. While this is sad news, the good news is that the admissions from open air screenings seem to have been missing until now; insidekino has updated the numbers and Germany's admissions are now a whopping 8.731.753 which enabled Intouchables to overtake not only "Finding Nemo" on the all-time chart, now it's also in front of "Dirty Dancing" and "Ice Age 3", nr. 22 on Germany's all-time chart since 1968. YEAH! Of the 21 movies with more admissions than Intouchables:3 are German spoof movies, 2 Spaghetti-Western (Italian spoof movie), 3 Lord of the Rings(NZ), 2 Harry Potter(British) and the rest are Hollywood movies. IndustriousAngel
Of the 21 movies with more admissions than Intouchables:3 are German spoof movies, 2 Spaghetti-Western (Italian spoof movie), 3 Lord of the Rings(NZ), 2 Harry Potter(British) and the rest are Hollywood movies.4 of those Hollywood movies are Disney: JungleBook, LionKing, Aristocats (my personal all-time Disney favourite) and Rescuers. In Germany+Austria, children were (and are, to a degree) the backbone of the industry - far more so than say in France or the USA.And let's be honest: Bud Spencer / Terence Hill comedies were for children, too. At least I don't remember any grown-ups in the theater .

IndustriousAngel
Jesus, I knew this was a hit but 400m WW for a small French film?! That's gotta be the best run of the year...I think it gets a bit overlooked because it is in fact a 2011 release - with its staged release across the world it took a whole year to reach 400mil! Twinsen9
And it's run isn't finish. The movie will be release in South Africa in 2013, and maybe in China...And think about Oscar

Rudolf
with 41.0% coming from its home-market (France) it's about pair with The Avengers who had 41.2%vice versa France and the USA contributed 2.5% of the total gross to the other's movie (just DOM is about 5 times as big)the big difference is Germany, which did 2% for TA, but 20% for Intouchables Edited November 9, 2012 by Rudolf

IndustriousAngel
I don't know where all those admissions in Germany hail from ... but there has been a further update and with 8.794.268 admissions Intouchables has now entered Germany's Top20 (since 1968). Nr.19 seems out of reach though, that would be The Phantom Menace with nearly 9mil admissions. With a bit more than 415mil US$ WW Intouchables should also be able to overtake "The King's Speech" and be #150 on BOM all-time WW list. Jonwo
The UK run was fine but it is difficult for a foreign film to do huge numbers.
SchumacherFTW
It never went wide enough with a great deal of advertising here in the UK.
