Lol, you are probably going to get a few quotes from this one (including myself), but I will say that Mission Impossible movies have never strayed political in any way so I don't see how this is like a surprising thing or whatever.

Just finished my rewatch. I was surprised at how much my ratings and ranking changed after rewatch.

Before:

1. Fallout 9/10

2. Ghost Protocol 8/10

3. MI3 8/10

4. MI1 7/10

5. Rogue Nation 7/10

6. MI2 3/10

Now:

1. Fallout 10/10

2. Rogue Nation 9/10

3. Ghost Protocol 8/10

4. MI1 8/10

5. MI3 7/10

6. MI2 3/10 (didn't rewatch lol)

I must have been half asleep on my first viewing of Rogue Nation cause wtf that shit banged. Not quite as hard as Fallout though, but not much really can. The flaws I had with a few of films were either cleared up on rewatch or just became less significant to me when I disgusted the movie a second time (except MI3, which I still really enjoyed).

I just saw the movie, and I had such a blast time! Tom Cruise did it again and make us believe firmly practical effect is the key to the thrill and adrenaline. The movie overall is a step-up from Fallout and JW4 and I certainly don't mind the long run time.

MI7 is one the rare blockbuster that I would call it "woke-free". Totally entertaining, thrilling and an exciting part 1 closure.  If old white man didn't show up, then they shut the fuck up and stop getting butthurt for Hollywood stop making movie that appeal to them.

Glad you loved it!

But MI series was always woke free maybe thats the reason both the red and blue states love it equally!

Crazy how much better Fallout and RN get on recent rewatches thanks to all the blockbusters that’ve come out since which don’t come anywhere near their quality

Christopher McQuarrie is now one the greatest specialist action directors- others include Stahleski,Cameron, McTiernan, Tony Scott, Michael Bay(but hes bad)

The Specialist action director is a rare breed

I can’t remember a single set piece in MI3. It’s by far the most forgettable. It was a course correction that didn’t know what direction it wanted to course correct to.

It has a great villain and one decent set piece (Chesapeake Bay Bridge). I feel like Abrams was too young of a Hollywood filmmaker to create technically proficient action sequences. The cinematography and editing ruined what was actually a decent plot. If the film had a more seasoned director, I think the series might've taken a different path. As others have mentioned, M:I 3 walked so Ghost Protocol could run.

MI3 is definitely one of the best in the franchise, i think, for reasons already mentioned (high stakes, villain etc). It's difficult for me to keep them apart coz there are that many and it's a while since i've seen them but as far as i remember Ghost Protocol - that seems to be so revered here - was kind of a slog.

The Shanghai pendulum, the bridge explosion, the thrilleresque climax?

Naw, I used to think the same, but on rewatch the plot is so unfocused and messy it doesn't really feel like you know what's happening or what is trying to be accomplished. The Rabbit's Foot has to be the worst macguffin I've ever seen in a movie lol. Villian's great, but the story isn't. The set pieces aren't even nearly as impressive or memorable as some of the other MI movies, but they aren't bad. Just blockbustery.

nope, don’t remember any of them. I remember hoffman, but the pervading idea that he was some great movie villain is pushing it.

I feel like the word woke has truly lost it's meaning these days due to some online weirdos calling everything they don't like as woke...you will even see some youtubers call a movie woke if it has a female lead with some good action sequences. If a movie like MI bombs (which I am mostly sure that it won't), then I am confident that there would be some idiots coming out and saying bs like it flopped because MI went woke and had forced screentime and action sequences of female actresses of the movie or some bs like that
