UK Box Office Thread

Looks like Alan Bennett + Dame Maggie equals success, given the success of films like The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, it does show there is a market for these types of films.

I expect Mockingjay part II to match or slightly increase from the last film and likely hit £30m total but I do think The Good Dinosaur and perhaps Bridge of Spies will eat into its audience the week after

We've been packed with Lady In The Van also. It's taken more than Spectre (which is still very busy) this weekend here :D

looks like Sony will have the top three films this weekend!

It'll make its money back and then some from just the UK alone, budget is apparently £4m. Sony have had a very good autumn with Spectre, HT2 and now Lady in the Van with only The Walk bombing.

Speaking of HT2, it must be nearing £20m, it has only has one more week to itself until The Good Dinosaur comes out.

Spectre falls around 36% with estimated £8.6m third weekend in the UK for stonking £79.5m to date.

The Lady in the Van records terrific estimated UK bow of £2.3m from its 540 screens.

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo looks to have posted the biggest opening of all time for a Bollywood film in the UK with around £950k from 186 screens.

Impressive for a movie with only 63% on RT.

Forget RT, it has been observed that many of the reviews there were posted by attention seeking people from 3rd rate, low circulation publications (mainly US).......who were just posting hatred comments to boost their magazines circulation.

The official reviews from the media, and national newspapers were more realistic....................anyway, its the public's, word of mouth that really counts!

Jesus Christ. After the opening, I was convinced that £80m would be the target. And it's there after 3 weekends (+4 days)!

Is £100m possible?

MJ2 hits next weekend, which should open to around $20m, like the previous two. Bond will probably see its first big drop, but it will easily be passed £85m by Sunday. £100m isn't totally out of the question, but I think it's more likely it ends up around the £95m mark.

Yep, so it will. It will get pretty close to Skyfall and that is a fabulous achievement.

Whatever the final tally of SP in the UK....it sure looks like the last 2 Bonds, will be No1 and No2, on the UK all-time film list (not inflation adjusted), and you can't top that? :)

Those American reviewers are too pompous or delusional to understand that the new Bond movie does not have to be Skyfall 2.

And if they gushed praise about it, you would call them brilliant. The movie is not perfect and it's way longer than it should be. There is nothing wrong with people voicing complaints.

True...............the film is not without faults, but what film isn't?

Its just the fact that there was a clear attempt to undermine the film from the outset, based somewhat on the Sony leaks, and DC's comments regarding the Bond role....and if you actually read these reviews, they are so generic in content......in that their criticisms could of been applied to any Bond film.
