Heretic
I have a feeling The Impossible could become a mini-breakout. It opens on New Years day, and I've actually heard quite a lot of people talk about it. I'll probably see it on Orange Wednesday.
SchumacherFTW
It's not getting the small screen cinemas though Heretic. Quartet's getting preferential treatment in smaller places.

I don't think it'll open big at all, but it could be one of those films that spreads over time with good WOM.
SchumacherFTW
It won't have enough room to breathe though with the massive amount of Adult competition next month starting with Gangster Squad on the 10th.
The Dark Alfred
Quartet will do better business than Impossible. What makes this Skyfall run incredible that it didn't need gimmick 3D to do it.
Jonwo
Quartet will appeal to the older audiences, it's a much easier sell than The Impossible. Django Unchained should do well but its 18 rating might hurt its box office potential, Lincoln I think will do good, Zero Dark Thirty not sure because of the subject matter. SchumacherFTW
I doubt the 18 will hurt that much, it didn't hurt IB. That said there are a couple of 16 year olds in my IT class pissed about that 18 rating.
Heretic
£3.4m ($5.5m) opening for Jack Reacher. Pretty good start.
Jonwo
£3.4m ($5.5m) opening for Jack Reacher. Pretty good start.JR's unlucky in that it'll be hurt by the various new releases in January like Gangster Squad and Django Unchained but £3.4m five days is good, higher than my £2.5-3m estimate. Guess Tom Cruise still has some appeal in the UK.I doubt the 18 will hurt that much, it didn't hurt IB. That said there are a couple of 16 year olds in my IT class pissed about that 18 rating.Given Tarantino's past films, I wasn't expecting anything less than an 18. Heretic
The Hobbit:UK (3rd): £6.7m ($10.9m) / +12% / £35.8m ($57.7m). Excellent. Should hit $70m by next Sunday and will probably end somewhere between $80-90m. Another massive success.Life of Pi had a nice increase too with $6.6m for $17m. I see it hitting $30m now.
Fake
I think another 18m is possible for TH1..... so 53-54m finish.
Fake
I can see LOP hitting $35m. Edited December 30, 2012 by Fake
Heretic
That would be great. 3rd of year. I wonder if it'd have enough steam to topple TDKR.... have to wait and see.
Fake
TDKR seems a bit out of reach to me unless the number goes up significantly with actuals. Will require over 4x multiplher from the current number.
Heretic
I guess. I'd be happy with anything over £50m, and I can't see it missing that mark now.

Fake
TH1 and LOP require 3.1-3.2x multiplire to hit 50m and 20m respectively. Should be locked.
Heretic
I don't think we'll see another year with 4 $80m+ films, one of them over $160m, for quite a while. What a brilliant year for the UK. Edited January 1, 2013 by Heretic
