They haven't announced anything yet but the upcoming trial doesn't mean anything good for Majors and I think Disney removing his upcoming movie is the first sign that they're severing ties with him.

Marvel has delivered mediocre shlock for 15 years and enjoyed a great success doing so. Some people might want to see something else dominate.

Kang Dynasty going down -30% from Age of Ultron globally doesn't sound that unrealistic to me and would put it under $1b. Back in 2015, an MCU movie with no hype (Ant-Man) still managed $519m. In 2023, an MCU movie with no hype (Marvels) is looking to go under $350m (and I am being optimistic here) and being rejected across every country, including MCU-friendly markets like Mexico and Brazil.

 

That tells me at least that the brand has just weakened substantially. The brand alone isn't strong enough to drive such movies to profitability like it used to be.

Loveness and Waldron won't be writing a word of those Avengers films. Everything after Cap 4 started getting new writers once Iger came back through the door.

IMO they need to delay Kang dynasty and secret wars indifferently and fast-track a smaller-scale Avengers with most of the new heroes so people can give a shit about them.

I'm not sure pushing the ending of the Multiverse Saga even further into the future is a good idea.

Well it's off the schedule, which means it might just be delayed. It's really too early to say. But even if they need to...there literally no easier villain to replace than Kang. Just literally cast another person and say it's a different one. We've already seen the variants aren't all identical.

The audience won't have the same emotional investment in a Kang played by a different actor. Sure, you can explain it way in-universe but for all intents and purposes the Kang in The Kang Dynasty is a completely new character. All the set-up they've done in Loki and Quantumania is now wasted.

Kang as a villain is cooked regardless. He was introduced in a total turd of a film and completely and wholly beaten by fucking antman. No one's going to see him as the next big threat after this.

 

I still think audiences will be down for a big team up though, AoU numbers perhaps.

Thought this was always the logical thing to do. Have the Greek Gods from Love and Thunder be the big bad of Avengers 5 (so the GA can atleast get accustomed to the new team) - Then move on to the Kang arc
