this thread almost moves like a pre-pandemic OW thread for a Nolan / Star Wars movie or something

Imagine if you will a Captain Marvel movie that borrows/steals from Man of Steel + Top Gun (1988) + Vin Diesel's Riddick.

Vulture Video: Watch the Ultimate Don Draper Pitch

Captain Marvel with Top Gun vibes? That's a nuts idea. Would be crazy cool. I'm surprised you haven't talked about this more

Gloating over Blue Beetle bombing is like kicking a wounded 3-legged dog. Also, it was one of the most obvious bombs of all time, whereas this was not, and many including myself thought it would be doing much better than tracking is indicating.

Weren't you predicting sub $400M prior to tracking? Lets not act like the majority of people thought the Marvels was going to do super strong numbers.

The craziest part is they absolutely did not react this way when Blue Beetle opened, so it's not just "having fun about a movie opening badly". People fucking hate this movie for some reason.

Most people don't care one way or the other about this movie, so they're not here in this thread. And the people who are excited have nothing to say as there are no reactions, reviews, movie or anything to talk about so they're also not here. This place is just a echo chamber for people frustrated with the larger MCU and/or were never really going to like this movie anyways.

Aquaman has several advantages over this one. A likable and charismatic lead, cool visuals, and a director  that knows how to make a crowd pleaser and with blockbuster experience. It’s also the only action blockbuster for a while I think

remember the first Aquaman made over 1 billion despite following Josstice League (while Captain Marvel was riding the IW/Endgame hype)

It will get to 300 pages anyways, if it's this active now just imagine what will happen when the embargo lifts.

After one tracker here said Blue Beetle was "easily trending to $4M+ previews" (which never ended up happening) r/boxoffice promptly declared that it was a breakout hit and that it would outgross The Flash. Some people unironically said it was gonna leg out like Elemental.

Proof (read the comments):

Come on, nobody expected potential sub-Flash territory. Most people expected a like $550-650M, with the low end predictions still being as high as $400M.

Though, as a Marvel fan, it is still much more fun to see a gigantic bomb than boring meh $550-650M gross

I'm expecting like a $35-40 million opening weekend lol. Maybe 4-5m previews

If it's not hated, Aquaman 2 could break the record for the leggiest CBM sequel this century (held by TDK's 3.37x multiplier) after 15 years.

But that is only because it will have very little upfront demand and will live or die by WOM during the Holiday frame.

I'm thinking Elemental legs.

And nice, job Aquaman for breaking The Dark Knight's record

It's also gonna be the highest grossing Aquaman sequel ever made, truly groundbreaking
