B J
I'm not disappointed with the daily performance at all actually. Edited April 5, 2012 by B J
Ariadne
Perfectly acceptable opening, very middle of the road. I think this is more of a weekend movie as well - it's damn long, I wouldn't want to see it on a work night.
Hatebox
It's a decent enough opening day. I always found the 150m DOM predictions ridiculous.(Although it's still a Cameron film so even now I have a slight hesitation in completely writing that figure off.) CJohn
4.5M OD is good. I don't know about his legs but I am expecting it to have a solid run like Lion King.
baumer
Many of us have been saying that the first couple of days would be fine but nothing God like. I don't think a lot of people know it opens on Wednesday. This 4.5 would put it on pace for about 30 for the five day. I'm more interested in the weekend numbers than the opening day.If it does land at 4.5, it might be enough to win the Wednesday.
MasterDodsen
People need to understand one thing about Titanic: its weekday numbers during the 97-98 run were not spectactular. It was the weekends where it shinned. This was a good first day considering that it is Wednesday, in April and not very many people were truely aware of the fact that it was out yet. Have faith people. I can see it getting a +30M for the 5-day. But that really doesn't matter to me, because Titanic's largest ever weekend was only 35M. Its the 160M DOM number that I'm hoping for. baumer
I would love to see this play into the summer.
lab276
People need to understand one thing about Titanic: its weekday numbers during the 97-98 run were not spectactular. What are you talking about? It didn't have a day under $1m for more than three months.
baumer
What are you talking about? It didn't have a day under $1m for more than three months.True, but it's weekend jumps were incredible. 200% on Fridays sometimes.
Elessar
Why am i not surprised that they overestimated...$4.5m is pretty disappointing. It's Easter, weekdays are somewhat inflated and i doubt Titanic is gonna have legs this time.
lab276
People are going to have to explain how $4.5m is in any way disappointing. You're forgetting that it's a three hour movie and a Wednesday. That's a long damn time on a weekday.
grey ghost
Titanic won't have 1997 legs but it should have better legs than the other 3D re-releases.
Elessar
People are going to have to explain how $4.5m is in any way disappointing.I think it's self explanatory if this makes in 5 days what TLK made in 3.
baumer
I think it's self explanatory if this makes in 5 days what TLK made in 3.Half the showings. Is this really that difficult to understand?
Elessar
It's not like TLK was selling out all shows. Neither is Titanic, not even close. There are enough shows for a much bigger gross, the demand is not there. Edited April 5, 2012 by Elessar

Elessar
What a GREAT comeback. Running out of arguments? Seriously, get your facts straight before putting your food in your mouth. I'm far from a hater, i frigging adore Titanic.

Elessar
But most likely it'll do less than TLK on the weekend. How is that not at least slightly disappointing?
vc2002
You know this kinda reminds me of TF3's OD. It was low OD but the wknd went up pretty well. I think the case would be the same for Titanic. Edited April 5, 2012 by vc2002
