At a certain point, you have to wonder if these awards writers even believe what they're saying, or are just vomiting out the words that will get the most clicks.

The latter, in all likelihood. Whenever controversy strikes, everyone is bound to try and pitch in with their two cents. Impressed that the attention-seeking likes of Al Sharpton have managed to avoid inserting themselves in all of this. Out of character for him of all people to miss an opportunity to be on camera.

Now that we have had some distance from the ceremony, I think apart from the Netflix bias, it just feels like a lot of people didn't want to hand all the awards to something titled "The Power of the Dog". A frontrunner dropping off that much between nominations where it over performed and actual awards is crazy. Maybe if there was another week or two, Spielberg could have beaten Campion as well.

Title has nothing to do with it lol

It was a Netflix film that peaked early which had very bad audience scores because of its style and distancing tone. It really is just that simple. Sam Elliott surely wasn't a minority industry voice in his opinion. Hard to root for a frontrunner, people like underdogs--especially when they make you cry like CODA or have a diverse/social angle (Parasite, Moonlight, Spotlight)

We've seen it with 1917, Roma, The Revenant, Boyhood

People said Netflix never win, but this is only their 4th years since their first BP nomination. Looks at focus feature and Sony classic, they have been in the run since decades ago but still no BP win yet,

Netflix just needs to land a movie that'll be warmly embraced by everyone from Oscar voters to those who just randomly want something to watch in the background. These auteur-driven projects aren't gonna work out for them under their "big first week and then never heard from again" release model.

sure but look at A24, won with Moonlight in like their 3rd year of existence. Had Room the year before and Lady Bird after. Open Road won BP with Spotlight and basically disbanded. Apple already won with CODA. It's a lot of luck and having the proper project. Netflix's biggest issue is how they're the largest entertainment source and their contenders lose steam easily as a result of peaking

Just when you thought this year's ceremony couldn't have been more embarrassing...

So, the plan was for Liza to sit backstage in a director's chair and...get transported to the microphone somehow? If she just has a bad back but doesn't need a wheelchair, was this director's chair supposed to be placed onstage and she was supposed to walk out there? How did this go in rehearsals?

I mean, as careless as this story makes the producers seem (not to mention the Gaga haters insinuating that she orchestrated this "heartwarming moment" to boost her image), it also feels a bit like a friend trying to make an excuse for how she came off. You know, "Liza is totally FINE, sharp as a tack, she only seemed so impaired mentally because those mean producers tricked her!"

Good lord, it's nearly August, did it really take him this long to "reflect"?

Did Oprah say no to a sit down, so the only other option his team came up with was Will reading off the questions himself, like in the auto-complete interviews? This is better than a very special episode of Red Table Talk, I guess.

They're already milking that "apology" narrative with the whispers that Emancipation is coming out this year after all.
