The 2002 RETRO BOFFYs: Celebrating 10 Years of BOFFYs - WINNER REVEAL BEGINS ON PAGE 5

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, you thought we were done with the BOFFYs but to celebrate the 2021 BOFFYs being our 10th BOFFY ceremony I thought it'd be fun to introduce "The RETRO BOFFYS".

These will work just like the normal BOFFYs, just with less categories (and no forum awards), except we'll be voting for the year 2002. No short-lists, just nomination voting and winner votes.

There's lots of fun movies to consider. For ease of voting, any movie which IMDb considers a 2002 release is eligible for the 2002 RETRO BOFFYs: https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?title_type=feature&year=2002-01-01,2002-12-31&ref_=adv_prv

The categories to submit nominations for are: (You may nominate up to 6 in each category and 10 for picture)

Also, any movie which was eligible for the Oscars that year is eligible here (even if IMDb lists it as 2001); also any movie which was eligible for the 2002 Oscars is NOT eligible here.

This qualifies:

Spirited Away

Y tu mama tambien

Zus & Zo

Nowhere in Africa

This disqualifies:

Twin Sisters

The Twilight Samurai

In America

Whale Rider

Dirty Pretty Things

City of God

I checked with people and it seemed the general preference was to just go by what IMDb listed as 2002 so ignore this!

I am literally taking this thread a direct personal attack. I will find you Panda, and I will paint a moustache in all of your photos at your house! You will be extremely confused in the morning after when you wake up to terrifying face hair painted all over you!

Great, this means that City Of God is now eligible, so FYC for most categories:
